About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Structured Cabling & Fiber Optic Engineer/Technician capable of independently executing and managing structured cabling and fiber optic installation activities at customer project sites.

The candidate should have practical experience in cable laying, termination, rack installation, patch-panel punching, rack dressing, testing, troubleshooting, labelling and documentation.

The person should be comfortable interacting directly with customers, contractors and project teams and should eventually be capable of managing a small field team.

Key Responsibilities

Structured Cabling

Execute structured cabling installations at customer sites.

Cable laying and routing for:

Cat6/Cat6A

Copper network cabling

Fiber optic networks

Information Outlet / Data Outlet termination.

Keystone/jack termination.

Patch panel punching and termination.

Patch cord management.

Rack installation and mounting.

Rack dressing and cable management.

Cable identification and labelling.

Preparation and maintenance of cable schedules.

Maintain proper cable routes, bends, segregation and dressing.

Troubleshoot cable connectivity and termination issues.

Fiber Optic

Hands-on experience in:

OFC laying.

Fiber cable routing.

LIU installation.

Fiber termination.

Fiber splicing.

Pigtail installation.

Fiber patch cord management.

Fiber identification and labelling.

Fiber fault troubleshooting.

Single-mode and multimode fiber awareness.

Testing & Certification

Copper cable testing using Fluke / certification testers.

Fiber testing using OTDR.

Power meter/light source testing where applicable.

Interpret basic test results and identify faults.

Prepare testing and certification reports.

Project Execution





Independently manage day-to-day cabling activities at customer sites.

Coordinate with customer representatives.

Coordinate with civil/electrical contractors where required.

Supervise cable pulling and installation teams.

Track project progress against planned activities.

Maintain material consumption records.

Prepare daily/weekly site reports.

Maintain as-built documentation.

Complete punch points and snag closure.

Assist in UAT and project handover.

Ensure customer sign-off after completion.

Additional Technical Advantage

Basic knowledge of active networking equipment will be a significant advantage.

Candidate should ideally understand basic:

Switches

Routers

Wireless Access Points

Firewalls / UTM

Network racks

Patch panels

Console connectivity

Ability to provide remote/console access to a switch, router, AP or UTM and perform basic troubleshooting will be an added advantage.

Technical Skills

Mandatory:

2–4 years hands-on structured cabling experience.

Cat6/Cat6A installation.

Patch panel punching.

Information outlet termination.

Rack installation and dressing.

Cable identification and labelling.

Copper cable testing.

Fiber optic cable installation.

LIU installation.

Fiber splicing and termination.

Basic OTDR knowledge.

Site documentation.

Preferred:

Fluke DSX or equivalent testing experience.

OTDR operation.

Experience with enterprise/industrial customer sites.

Basic network equipment knowledge.

Exposure to Cisco/Aruba/Fortinet equipment.

Experience supervising technicians/contractors.

Education

ITI / Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Networking, IT or related discipline.

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
