1. MEE Plant Operation

- Operate the MEE system safely and efficiently as per SOP.
- Start, operate and shut down the MEE plant according to the prescribed procedure.
- Maintain required feed flow, steam pressure, vacuum, temperature and product concentration.
- Monitor all effects continuously during operation.
- Maintain stable evaporation conditions and avoid sudden changes in operating parameters.

2. Process Monitoring

- Monitor and record:
- Feed flow rate
- Feed temperature
- Steam pressure
- Vacuum pressure
- Temperature of each effect
- Condensate flow
- Product/concentrate flow
- Product concentration/TDS/Brix, as applicable
- Cooling-water parameters
- Take samples of feed and concentrated product as instructed.
- Inform the supervisor immediately if process parameters are outside the specified limits.

3. Feed & Concentrate Handling

- Ensure continuous and uniform feed to the MEE.
- Check feed tank level before and during operation.
- Monitor concentrate level and transfer concentrate to the designated tank.
- Prevent overflow, dry running and blockage of feed/concentrate lines.
- Operate feed, transfer and circulation pumps correctly.

4. Vacuum System

- Operate and monitor the vacuum system.
- Maintain required vacuum in each effect.
- Check vacuum pumps/ejectors and associated lines.
- Identify abnormal vacuum fluctuations and report them immediately.
- Check for possible air leakage or blockage when vacuum is not maintained.

5. Steam & Condensate System

- Monitor steam supply pressure and temperature.
- Operate steam control valves as required.
- Monitor condensate collection and transfer.
- Check steam traps and condensate lines for abnormal operation.
- Report steam leakage or abnormal pressure immediately.

6. Cleaning & CIP

- Carry out MEE cleaning/CIP as per the approved schedule and SOP.
- Monitor cleaning chemical concentration, temperature and circulation time where applicable.
- Ensure proper flushing after chemical cleaning.
- Report scaling, fouling or blockage of heat-transfer surfaces.
- Maintain cleanliness of evaporator bodies,

pipelines and surrounding area.

7. Equipment Inspection

Carry out regular checks of:

- Feed pumps
- Circulation pumps
- Vacuum pumps/ejectors
- Evaporator bodies
- Heat exchangers
- Condensers
- Valves and pipelines
- Pressure/vacuum gauges
- Temperature indicators
- Level indicators
- Mechanical seals
- Motors and electrical panels

Immediately report leakage, unusual vibration, abnormal noise, overheating or pressure/vacuum problems.

8. Safety Responsibilities

- Follow all plant safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Never bypass safety interlocks or operate equipment outside approved limits.
- Ensure steam and chemical lines are isolated before maintenance.
- Follow proper LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures where applicable.
- Maintain safe handling of chemicals used for cleaning/CIP.
- Report unsafe conditions, leaks and near misses immediately.

9. Shift Records & Documentation

Maintain the MEE logbook for every shift, including:

- Start and stop time
- Feed quantity
- Product/concentrate quantity
- Steam consumption/pressure
- Vacuum
- Temperatures
- Concentration/TDS/Brix
- Equipment running hours
- Cleaning/CIP activities
- Breakdown and maintenance observations
- Abnormal process conditions

10. Coordination

- Coordinate with production, boiler, maintenance, laboratory/QC and utility operators.
- Inform the next shift operator about plant condition and pending issues.
- Coordinate with QC regarding product concentration and quality.
- Inform the production supervisor before any major process adjustment.

11. Emergency Handling

The operator should know the immediate response procedure for:

- Loss of vacuum
- Steam failure
- Power failure
- Pump failure
- High/low level
- Product leakage
- Chemical leakage
- Excessive pressure/temperature
- Condenser failure

Key Responsibility

The MEE operator is responsible for secure, continuous and efficient evaporation while maintaining the required product concentration, minimizing steam/energy consumption, preventing equipment damage and maintaining accurate shift records.
