The role

We're in the middle of a major platform evolution: moving from a monolith to a service-based architecture with a dedicated device ingestion service, a backend-for-frontend (BFF) layer, a notification service, and centralized identity via Keycloak. You'll work across the React frontend and the Java backend to ship features through that current architecture, and you'll have meaningful input into how it's designed. We're a small team, so you'll own real features end to end and see them in front of customers quickly.

What you'll do

- Build and ship features across the stack: React UI, BFF endpoints, backend services, and the database queries behind them
- Develop real-time map experiences with MapLibre and WebSockets, keeping the UI smooth with thousands of moving vehicles on screen
- Design and implement REST APIs in Spring Boot with strict tenant isolation and role-based access
- Work on authentication and authorization flows using Keycloak (OIDC, PKCE, session-based BFF auth)
- Write performant SQL against very large time-series tables (hundreds of millions of rows), including indexing, pagination, partitioning, and retention strategies
- Build event-driven features on Redis queues: notifications, alerts, and background processing
- Contribute to geospatial features such as map-matching, toll detection, and route analysis using Valhalla and OpenStreetMap data
- Write tests, review code, and help raise the engineering bar as the platform scales toward 100K+ concurrently connected devices




- Help diagnose and resolve production issues, from frontend rendering performance to connection pool tuning

What we're looking for

- [3–5+] years of professional full stack experience
- Strong React skills (hooks, state management with Redux Toolkit or similar, performance profiling)
- Strong Java and Spring Boot skills (REST, Spring Security, JPA/JDBC)
- Solid relational database fundamentals, ideally MySQL: query plans, indexing, schema design
- Working understanding of OAuth2/OIDC and secure session handling
- Comfort with Git, code review, and working from tickets in a small, fast-moving team
- Clear written communication and the habit of asking questions early

Nice to have

- Experience with IoT or GPS tracking protocols
- Mapping and geospatial experience (MapLibre/Mapbox GL, GeoJSON, OSM, Valhalla, Overpass)
- Keycloak administration or custom SPI development
- Java 21 features (virtual threads, structured concurrency)
- Redis, Netty, or other high-throughput messaging and networking experience
- Multi-tenant SaaS architecture experience
- Linux server ops, DigitalOcean or similar cloud, API gateways (Kong), CI/CD
- Material UI, Vite, PWA experience
