About the Role
We are looking for a qualified Chartered Accountant with 5–8 years of post-qualification experience to lead our Accounts & Finance function.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and supervising a team of approximately 8–10 accounting professionals and will have overall responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and timely completion of the company's accounting and financial processes.
The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of accounting principles, GST, direct and indirect taxation, statutory compliance, audit processes, financial reporting, and applicable accounting and tax laws, along with the ability to lead a team effectively.
Key Responsibilities1. Accounts & Financial Accounting
- Take overall ownership of the company's accounting function and ensure accurate and timely accounting operations.
- Supervise the day-to-day accounting activities performed by the Accounts team.
- Review General Ledger (GL) accounting, account classifications, journal entries, accruals, provisions, prepaid expenses, and other accounting adjustments.
- Review and approve accounting entries and supporting documentation prepared by the team.
- Ensure proper revenue, expense, asset, liability, and provision recognition in accordance with applicable accounting principles.
- Review account reconciliations and ensure outstanding items and discrepancies are identified and resolved.
- Analyse ledger balances and investigate unusual transactions, variances, and discrepancies.
- Ensure proper maintenance of books of accounts and supporting records.
2. Month-End & Year-End Closing
- Lead and supervise the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process.
- Establish and monitor closing timelines for the Accounts team.
- Review month-end accruals, provisions, prepaid expenses, depreciation, adjustments, and other closing entries.
- Review monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for accuracy and completeness.
- Analyse financial results, ledger movements, and significant variances.
- Ensure appropriate period-end adjustments and accounting treatments.
- Coordinate with internal teams to obtain information required for timely closing.
3. Financial Reporting & Management Information
- Prepare/review financial statements and financial schedules.
- Provide management with meaningful analysis of accounting and financial data.
- Identify significant movements, unusual transactions, and areas requiring management attention.
- Prepare or review MIS and other financial reports as required by management.
- Ensure financial information is accurate, complete, and available within agreed timelines.
4. Statutory Compliance & Taxation
- Oversee the company's GST compliance and related accounting requirements.
- Ensure timely and accurate GST returns, reconciliations, and related compliance activities.
- Oversee direct and indirect tax compliance and coordinate with external tax professionals wherever required.
- Manage and coordinate tax audits and other statutory compliance requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting, taxation, and other financial laws and regulations.
- Monitor changes in applicable tax and accounting regulations and assess their impact on the business.
- Coordinate responses to notices, queries, assessments, and other matters with relevant advisors and authorities, where required.
5. Audit Management
- Act as the primary internal point of contact for statutory, tax, and other financial audits.
- Coordinate with statutory auditors, tax auditors, consultants, and other external professionals.
- Prepare and review schedules, reconciliations, supporting documents, and information required for audits.
- Ensure audit requirements are addressed within agreed timelines.
- Track audit observations and coordinate with the Accounts team to resolve issues.
- Strengthen accounting controls and processes based on audit findings and business requirements.
6. Team Management & Supervision
- Lead and manage a team of approximately 8–10 members within the Accounts function.
- Allocate responsibilities and establish clear ownership within the team.
- Review the team's work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Monitor performance, productivity, and timelines.
- Train and mentor team members on accounting processes and compliance requirements.
- Identify errors, control gaps, and process weaknesses and ensure corrective action.
- Build a disciplined and accountable accounting function.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex accounting and compliance matters.
7. Purchase & Vendor Accounting
- Supervise the purchase order and invoice-related accounting processes.
- Review discrepancies between purchase orders, invoices, and accounting records.
- Ensure appropriate documentation and approvals are maintained.
- Oversee vendor onboarding and related documentation/compliance requirements.
- Coordinate with vendors regarding invoices, payments, documentation, and account-related queries.
- Ensure vendor balances and outstanding items are regularly reviewed and reconciled.
8. Payments & Operational Finance
- Supervise payment processing and ensure payments are properly authorised, recorded, and supported.
- Monitor utility and other recurring business payments and ensure timely processing.
- Review payment-related accounting entries and reconciliations.
- Coordinate with relevant internal teams to resolve payment and accounting issues.
9. Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Establish and strengthen accounting controls and review mechanisms.
- Identify gaps in existing accounting processes and recommend improvements.
- Ensure proper documentation and audit trails are maintained.
- Improve the accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of accounting processes.
- Implement appropriate review and approval mechanisms within the Accounts function.
- Support management in improving financial controls and reporting processes.
Required Qualifications
- Chartered Accountant (CA) qualified from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline preferred.
- 5–8 years of post-qualification experience as a Chartered Accountant.
- Strong practical knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Strong knowledge of GST, taxation, statutory compliance, and audit processes.
- Experience in managing or supervising an accounting team.
- Strong understanding of month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of accounting and financial reporting.
- Good working knowledge of GST and taxation matters.
- Knowledge of statutory and tax audit processes.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Tally, Zoho Books, or similar ERP/accounting systems.
- Robust proficiency in MS Excel.
- Ability to analyse large volumes of accounting and financial data.
- Familiarity with financial controls, reconciliations, and MIS reporting.

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
