Role Overview

We're hiring a Senior Engineering Lead, to own our backend and Generative AI architecture, and to direct (not necessarily hand-build) our data and frontend layers. You'll run the Python backend, including Django/FastAPI, LLM-powered agentic pipelines, and data infrastructure, while working closely with frontend engineers building React/TypeScript dashboards. This is a working technical lead role: you'll write code, make architecture calls, and manage a small team of backend and frontend developers.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

- Manage and mentor a cross-functional team of backend (Python) and frontend (React) developers.
- Own the technical roadmap for backend and GenAI systems, and direct frontend architecture decisions in collaboration with frontend leads.
- Work with Product, Design, and Data Science to translate requirements into technical scope.

Backend & GenAI

- Design and maintain Python backend services and RESTful APIs (Django/DRF, FastAPI).
- Build AI agents and multi-agent systems within icogz's Aryabot / AIA™ architecture, using CrewAI or equivalent framework covering task decomposition, tool use, agent memory, and retrieval-augmented generation.
- Design NL-to-SQL and conversational analytics interfaces for LLM-driven querying.
- Optimize PostgreSQL and MongoDB for performance and schema design in a multi-tenant SaaS environment.
- Maintain data processing pipelines using Pandas, PySpark,



and Dask.

Frontend Direction

- Set technical direction for React/TypeScript development and state management (Redux or Context API), reviewing architecture decisions made by frontend engineers.
- Guide development of data-dense dashboards using Apache ECharts and D3.js.
- Set standards for frontend performance, including rendering optimization for large datasets, lazy loading, and efficient data handling.

Delivery

- Run code review across the stack.
- Own CI/CD pipelines, testing strategy (Pytest required; Jest/Cypress for frontend), and deployment.
- Lead incident response and root cause analysis for production issues.
- Manage technical debt and long-term codebase health.

Requirements

- 8+ years of skilled software development experience, with deep backend expertise.
- 3+ years managing or leading a development team.
- Expert-level Python, Django, and FastAPI.
- Hands-on production experience building agentic systems with [specific framework(s)], including RAG, embeddings, and vector database integration.
- Strong SQL skills, including query optimization and NL-to-SQL implementation.
- Working knowledge of React/TypeScript and modern frontend state management, enough to review architecture and make direction calls, not necessarily to build production UI daily.
- Deep expertise in PostgreSQL and MongoDB, including performance tuning, schema design, and multi-tenant considerations.
- Experience owning CI/CD and deployment pipelines.
- A track record of leading a team through delivery of a data-intensive production application.

Nice-to-Have

- Hands-on experience with Apache ECharts or D3.js.
- AWS or Azure; Docker and Kubernetes.
- WebSocket-based real-time systems.
- Jest or Cypress.
- Grafana or Prometheus.
- ClickHouse, DuckDB, or other analytical databases.
