Job Title: Sample Collection Staff

Job Summary

The Sample Collection Staff is responsible for collecting blood and other clinical samples from patients safely and efficiently, ensuring proper identification, labelling, handling, storage, and timely transportation of samples to the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities

- Collect blood and other clinical specimens from patients as per prescribed procedures.
- Verify patient details and test requirements before sample collection.
- Properly identify, label, and handle all collected samples.
- Follow proper infection-control, hygiene, and safety procedures during sample collection.
- Ensure correct sample collection techniques to avoid contamination, hemolysis, or improper specimens.
- Handle patients politely and provide clear instructions before and after sample collection.
- Collect samples from OP, IP, home-collection patients, and other designated locations as required.
- Maintain proper records of collected samples and ensure timely submission to the laboratory.
- Handle and transport samples according to the required temperature and safety conditions.
- Report any rejected, insufficient,



or improperly collected samples to the concerned laboratory staff.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the sample collection area and equipment.
- Ensure proper disposal of used needles, syringes, and other biomedical waste according to hospital protocols.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and laboratory reports.
- Coordinate with laboratory, reception, nursing, and other departments when required.
- Follow the assigned duty schedule, hospital policies, and instructions from the reporting manager.
- Perform other laboratory/sample-collection-related duties assigned by management.

Qualifications & Skills

- Good communication and patient-handling skills.
- Ability to work responsibly and maintain accuracy in patient/sample identification.
- Willingness to work in shifts and handle home sample collection, if required.
