Formulation Specialist – Oral Care

Experience: 3–5 years

Education: Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field

About the Role

Perfora is looking for a detail-oriented Formulation Specialist to develop and optimize toothpaste formulations, with a strong focus on product efficacy, stability, quality, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Formulation & Product Development

- Develop new toothpaste formulations, including whitening, sensitive, and restorative variants.
- Optimize existing formulations to improve efficacy, stability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct ingredient compatibility studies and ensure formulation stability throughout the product shelf life.
- Evaluate and select raw materials based on performance, safety, quality, and cost.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and raw-material suppliers to drive product development and innovation.

2. Testing & Quality Assurance

- Conduct lab-scale and pilot-scale formulation trials.
- Perform stability testing under different environmental conditions.
- Work closely with Quality Control (QC)



teams to ensure consistency and quality during production.
- Develop and implement testing protocols to evaluate product performance, including abrasivity, foaming, antimicrobial properties, and other relevant parameters.
- Support troubleshooting and optimization of formulations during development and production.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in formulation development or new product development, preferably within oral care, personal care, cosmetics, or related FMCG industries.
- Strong knowledge of toothpaste ingredients, including surfactants, flavors, humectants, abrasives, and active ingredients.
- Understanding of microbiological and clinical testing requirements for oral care products.
- Familiarity with rheology, emulsification, stability testing, and formulation optimization.
- Robust analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and quality teams.
- Strong understanding of product quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
