JOB DESCRIPTION General Manager – Operations Position Details Particulars Details Designation General Manager – Operations Department Operations / Manufacturing Location Ahmedabad, Gujarat Reporting To Director / Managing Director Experience 10–15 Years Industry Preference Nutraceutical / Pharmaceutical About the Role We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented General Manager – Operations to oversee and drive end-to-end manufacturing and operational activities. The position will be responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient plant operations, production planning, quality and regulatory compliance, cost optimization, manpower productivity, supply chain coordination, and timely execution of business requirements. The candidate will work closely with senior management and cross-functional teams to achieve operational excellence, improve plant productivity, optimize costs, and support the organization's growth. Key Responsibilities 1. Plant & Manufacturing Operations Oversee end-to-end manufacturing operations across Production, Packing, Warehouse, Engineering, and related functions. Ensure smooth day-to-day functioning of the manufacturing facility. Monitor production plans, schedules, batch execution, and dispatch commitments. Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machinery, materials, and production capacity. Identify operational bottlenecks and implement corrective and preventive actions. Drive productivity, efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives. 2. Production Planning & Execution Develop and monitor production plans in coordination with Planning, Purchase, Warehouse, QA, QC, and Sales/Business teams. Ensure timely completion of batches as per production schedules. Monitor production output, rejection, wastage, yield, downtime, and overall equipment utilization. Improve production processes to achieve better productivity and cost efficiency. 3. Quality & Regulatory Compliance Ensure manufacturing activities are carried out in compliance with applicable GMP/cGMP, SOPs, regulatory requirements, and internal quality systems. Work closely with QA and QC teams to maintain product quality and compliance. Ensure timely investigation and closure of deviations, CAPA, change controls, complaints, and audit observations. Support regulatory, customer, and third-party audits and ensure timely closure of observations. Promote a strong quality and compliance culture across operations. 4. Cost Control & Operational Excellence Drive initiatives to reduce manufacturing costs, wastage, rejections, utility consumption, and operational losses.



Monitor operational KPIs and identify opportunities for cost optimization. Improve overall plant productivity and capacity utilization. Implement Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement practices wherever applicable. 5. Manpower Management Lead, mentor, and develop production and operational teams. Plan manpower requirements based on production capacity and business requirements. Monitor team performance, productivity, discipline, and training. Establish clear KRAs/KPIs for key operational functions. Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement. 6. Cross-Functional Coordination Coordinate with QA, QC, Production, R&D;, Regulatory Affairs, Purchase, Stores, Engineering, Finance, HR, Sales, and Business Development. Ensure availability of raw materials, packaging materials, manpower, equipment, and other resources required for production. Resolve operational issues through effective coordination with concerned departments. Support customer-specific and product-specific manufacturing requirements. 7. Maintenance & Engineering Coordination Coordinate with Engineering/Maintenance teams to ensure maximum equipment availability. Monitor preventive and breakdown maintenance activities. Support installation, commissioning, validation, and qualification of new equipment and facilities. Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement. 8. Inventory & Supply Chain Management Monitor raw material, packaging material, WIP, and finished goods inventory levels. Coordinate with Purchase and Stores to ensure uninterrupted production. Minimize inventory losses, expiry, excess stock, and material shortages. Improve material planning and inventory management practices. 9. Safety & Compliance Ensure implementation of workplace safety practices across plant operations. Promote safe working practices and compliance with statutory requirements. Ensure proper handling, storage, and movement of materials and finished products. Participate in risk assessment and implementation of preventive measures. 10. MIS & Management Reporting Prepare and review periodic operational MIS for senior management.



Track and report key operational metrics, including: Production achievement Productivity Capacity utilization Yield and wastage Rejection and rework Machine downtime Manufacturing cost OTIF / dispatch performance Inventory Manpower productivity Present operational performance, challenges, corrective actions, and improvement plans to management. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) The role will be evaluated on: Production plan achievement Capacity utilization Manufacturing productivity Batch completion and adherence to timelines Yield and wastage control Reduction in rejection and rework Machine utilization and downtime reduction Manufacturing cost optimization Inventory optimization Audit and compliance performance Timely closure of deviations and CAPA Manpower productivity Customer order / dispatch adherence Continuous improvement initiatives Candidate Profile Education Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Science, Engineering, or a related field. MBA / PG qualification in Operations, Supply Chain, or Management will be an added advantage. Experience 10–15 years of relevant experience, preferably in Nutraceutical, Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, FMCG, or similar regulated manufacturing industries. Strong experience in managing end-to-end plant/manufacturing operations. Experience handling multiple departments and large teams. Strong understanding of GMP/cGMP, quality systems, production processes, and regulatory compliance. Experience in production planning, cost control, capacity utilization, and operational excellence. Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination abilities. Should be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
