Role Description The Wiring Harness Design Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Gurugram. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing wiring harnesses for electric vehicles, including schematic creation, connector selection, and routing according to vehicle architecture and safety standards. Daily tasks include collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams to ensure that harness designs meet functional, regulatory, and cost requirements, and updating designs based on test feedback and field performance.
The engineer will prepare and maintain detailed drawings, BOMs, and documentation, work with suppliers on component specifications, and support prototype builds and production launches. The role also involves troubleshooting harness-related issues,
ensuring compliance with industry standards, and continuously improving harness design for reliability, manufacturability, and ease of service.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in electrical engineering principles, including circuit theory, wiring systems, and low/high-voltage distribution in vehicles.
- Experience with wiring harness design tools (e.g., CATIA Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar ECAD software) and 2D/3D drawings.
- Knowledge of automotive or electric vehicle standards and regulations related to wiring harnesses, connectors, insulation, and safety.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system layouts, and translate them into manufacturable harness designs.
- Familiarity with DFMEA, DFM, and DFR concepts, along with practical experience in prototype builds, testing, and validation of harness systems.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills for working with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and manufacturing partners.
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field; advanced qualifications or relevant certifications are an advantage.
- Prior experience in automotive, commercial vehicles, or electric mobility projects is highly beneficial, especially in high-voltage EV architectures.
- Robust problem-solving mindset, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment focused on innovation and sustainability.
