Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced ClickHouse Database Administrator to manage, maintain, optimize, and support high-performance ClickHouse database environments. The candidate will be responsible for database administration, performance tuning, monitoring, backup/recovery, security, and ensuring high availability of ClickHouse clusters.

Key Responsibilities

- Install, configure, administer, and maintain ClickHouse database clusters.
- Manage ClickHouse databases, tables, users, roles, permissions, and configurations.
- Perform database performance tuning and optimization for large-volume analytical workloads.
- Monitor database health, resource utilization, query performance, and cluster availability.
- Design and manage ClickHouse clusters, replication, sharding, and distributed tables.
- Troubleshoot database performance, connectivity, replication, and query-related issues.
- Develop and maintain backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Perform database upgrades, patches, configuration changes, and capacity planning.
- Analyze slow and resource-intensive queries and recommend optimization techniques.
- Manage data retention, partitioning, TTLs, compression, and storage optimization.
- Ensure database security, access controls, auditing, and compliance requirements.
- Work closely with DevOps, Data Engineering, Application Development, and Infrastructure teams.




- Support production incidents and participate in on-call/rotational support when required.
- Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, database architecture, and operational procedures.

Required Technical Skills

- Strong hands-on experience with ClickHouse Database Administration.
- Good understanding of ClickHouse architecture and distributed database concepts.
- Experience with:
- Replication and sharding
- Distributed tables
- ReplicatedMergeTree engines
- Partitioning and data lifecycle management
- TTL and data retention
- Query optimization and performance tuning
- Backup and recovery
- Cluster monitoring and troubleshooting
- Strong SQL skills and experience with complex queries.
- Knowledge of Linux /Unix administration.
- Experience with database monitoring and observability tools.
- Understanding of networking, storage, CPU and memory utilization.
- Exposure to cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is an advantage.
- Experience with automation/scripting using Shell/Python will be preferred.

Valuable to Have

- Experience managing large-scale ClickHouse clusters in production.
- Knowledge of Kafka or other data-ingestion platforms.
- Experience with ETL/ELT and data pipelines.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized database deployments.
- Exposure to Grafana, Prometheus, or similar monitoring platforms.
- Experience with other databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or MongoDB.
- Understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity practices.
