Transport Manager Roles & Responsibilities
Position Overview
Responsible for managing and coordinating end-to-end transport operations, fleet compliance, documentation, GPS/CCTV systems, vehicle deployment, maintenance coordination, vendor management and transport MIS. The role requires solid ownership, follow-up and cross-functional coordination to ensure safe, compliant and uninterrupted transport operations across all branches.
Key Responsibilities
- Fleet Documentation & Compliance: Maintain and monitor RC, Insurance, FC, Permit, Tax, PUC, HSRP and other statutory records; ensure timely renewals with zero avoidable lapses.
- GPS & CCTV Management: Ensure timely installation, activation, mapping and functioning of GPS and CCTV systems across the fleet; coordinate with vendors for troubleshooting and closure of issues.
- Vehicle Deployment & Operations: Coordinate vehicle deployment, transfers, replacements and operational readiness across branches.
- RTO & Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with RTO consultants, dealerships, insurance providers, GPS/CCTV vendors and internal teams for timely closure of requirements.
- Maintenance & Breakdown Support: Coordinate vehicle servicing, repairs, breakdown resolution and substitute vehicle arrangements to ensure operational continuity.
- Fleet Data & MIS: Maintain accurate fleet master data, compliance trackers, GPS/CCTV records and prepare timely MIS and management reports.
- Audit & Record Management: Ensure proper documentation, reconciliation, filing and audit readiness of all transport records.
- Follow-up & Escalation: Track pending activities, follow up with stakeholders and escalate delays or critical compliance/operational issues on time.
- Cross-functional Coordination: Work closely with branches, Finance, Accounts, Procurement,
IT, Security, Administration and other stakeholders.
- Ownership & Accountability: Take end-to-end ownership of assigned transport activities and ensure timely closure within defined timelines.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Transport Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business Administration or a related discipline.
- A postgraduate qualification in Logistics, Transport, Supply Chain or Operations Management will be an added advantage.
- Relevant certifications in Fleet Management, Transport Operations, Road Safety or Compliance will be preferred.

Preferred Experience
- Experience in institutional, school, corporate or large-scale fleet/transport operations.
- Hands-on experience in managing fleet compliance, RTO activities, GPS/CCTV, vendors, vehicle maintenance and transport MIS.
- Ability to manage multiple branches, stakeholders and operational requirements simultaneously.
Working Conditions: The Manager Transport will be required to travel extensively throughout India
- The role may require working remotely and outside normal business hours
- The role may require working in noisy and busy environments such as construction sites, schools, etc.
