Job Title: Transport Manager

Location: Velammal Nexus, Mogappair Main Campus, Chennai

Role Summary:

The Transport Manager will oversee the entire school transport operations, ensuring safe, punctual, and cost-effective travel for students and staff. The role requires strong leadership, route planning expertise, vendor coordination, and adherence to safety and regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

- Transport Operations Management:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the school’s fleet, including buses, drivers, and attendants.
- Plan and optimize routes and schedules to ensure timely pickups and drop-offs.
- Coordinate daily transport activities, addressing any route or vehicle issues promptly.
- Staff Supervision & Coordination:
- Supervise, train, and monitor the performance of drivers and bus attendants.
- Ensure staff compliance with safety protocols, punctuality, and discipline.
- Manage driver duty rosters, leaves, and replacements.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure all vehicles comply with RTO norms, insurance, fitness certificates, and emission standards.
- Conduct regular safety drills and awareness programs for students and drivers.
- Maintain first-aid kits, emergency contacts, and GPS surveillance.
- Fleet Maintenance & Monitoring:
- Schedule regular maintenance and servicing of vehicles to minimize downtime.
- Maintain transport logs, fuel usage records, and vehicle maintenance schedules.
- Vendor & Contract Management:
- Liaise with third-party transport vendors (if any) to ensure SLAs and service quality.
- Verify and approve transport invoices and coordinate with the accounts team.




- Parent & School Coordination:
- Address transport-related concerns from parents and provide timely resolutions.
- Coordinate with school authorities during events, trips, and emergencies.

Key Skills & Competencies:

- Robust organizational and route planning skills
- Proficiency in MS Excel and GPS tracking systems
- Leadership and people management
- Clear understanding of transport laws, permits, and compliance
- Crisis management and problem-solving skills
- Good communication in Tamil and English

Educational Qualification & Experience:

- Graduate in any discipline (preferred: Logistics or Administration)
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in school or institutional transport management
- Valid knowledge of local transport norms and RTO procedures

Job Type: Full-time Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
