– Head, Supply Chain Management

Designation

Head – Supply Chain Management (Procurement, Stores & Logistics)

Department

Supply Chain Management

Reports To

CEO

Team Reporting In

Managers – Procurement, Stores and Logistics, with their officers and associates

Location

[Plant / HO location]

Experience

12+ years in SCM in engineering manufacturing — Aerospace, Defence, Aviation, Automobile (AS9100 / ISO 9001 / IATF 16949), Electronics or precision engineering — including 5+ years leading the complete SCM function (Procurement + Stores + Logistics) with managers reporting in

Qualification

B.E./B.Tech (Mechanical / Production / Industrial / Electronics); MBA/PGDM in SCM/Operations or CSCP/CPSM an added advantage

ROLE PURPOSE

Own the end-to-end supply chain for our UAV, Drone, VTOL, UAS and simulator programmes — sourcing, vendor development, material planning, stores and logistics — and be single-point accountable for material availability to the build plan at optimum cost and inventory, under a documented, audit-ready system aligned to AS9100D. The three sub-functions are run through the Procurement, Stores and Logistics Managers; the Head owns the plan, the commercials, the compliance and the result.

This role requires implementation first and sustenance thereafter — the SCM function and its systems are to be established, not inherited. The person must define the procedures, controls and ERP requirement with QA, build the vendor base and the team, and put all three systems in place. Once established, the same person must run the function hands-on, hold the managers and the vendor base to it, and scale it as programmes and volumes grow.

We are a growing company, so the role calls for someone comfortable with a lean team, limited structure and flexible role boundaries, willing to stretch when programme deliveries or flight trials demand it.

Sourcing, Vendor Base & Cost

Own category strategy across direct, indirect, services and capital; approve vendors, rate contracts and POs within the delegated authority; lead major, long-lead and single-source negotiations; carry the savings, should-cost, make-vs-buy and indigenization agenda.

Material Planning & Availability

Own the material plan against programme and build schedules; set re-order, safety-stock and inventory norms; drive shortage control and escalation; be single-point accountable to Programme Management and Production for material readiness.

Stores,

Inventory & Working Capital

Govern stock accuracy, traceability, preservation and disposition through the Stores Manager; control inventory ageing, non-moving and obsolete stock; own inventory levels, payment terms and vendor advances with Finance.

Logistics, Imports & Statutory

Govern inbound freight, imports and dispatch through the Logistics Manager; own landed-cost and freight-cost control, CHA and forwarder appointments; ensure statutory compliance on GST, customs and transport, and that export control and dangerous-goods requirements are met as volumes grow.

Supply Risk & Continuity

Maintain dual sources for critical items; manage long-lead, single-source and import-dependency risk; act on electronics obsolescence; enforce counterfeit-part prevention and product-safety requirements; hold a continuity plan for programme-critical supply.

Governance, QMS & Audits

Own the SCM section of the QMS with QA in line with AS9100D — procedures, formats, records and approval matrix; control external providers and flow down quality requirements; account for Free Issue Material and customer / government-owned stock; face internal, customer and certification audits (DGAQA / CEMILAC) and close non-conformities.

ERP, Systems & MIS

Own the SCM requirement in ERP across procurement, stores and logistics; drive configuration and rollout with IT / the implementation partner and enforce transaction discipline; publish one SCM MIS on material readiness, spend, savings, inventory ageing and vendor performance for management review.

Team, Structure & Budget

Structure, staff, train and appraise the SCM team; develop the managers & associates and hold them to their KRAs; set and administer the approval matrix and delegation of authority; own the procurement, freight and inventory budgets; ensure ethical conduct, confidentiality and conflict-of-interest control.
