Role Description The Storyteller role is a full-time, on-site position based in South Delhi. The Storyteller will research and develop narrative-driven content across formats such as long-form articles, interviews, scripts, and ground reports, aligned with Salt News’s editorial priorities.

This role involves conducting background research, interviewing sources, shaping story angles, and collaborating with editors, producers, and cinematographers to bring complex topics to life with clarity and nuance.



The Storyteller will be responsible for writing and refining stories that add context and depth, contributing to explainers, documentaries, and digital features for multiple platforms. Day-to-day work includes pitching ideas, fact-checking, adapting content for different audiences and channels, and participating in editorial discussions to maintain high journalistic standards.

Qualifications

- Strong Communication and interpersonal skills to conduct interviews, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and present ideas clearly.
- Advanced Writing and Storytelling abilities to craft compelling, accurate narratives in multiple formats and tones.
- Basic to intermediate Photography skills to support visual storytelling and field reporting when needed.
- Editorial judgment and skills to structure stories, ensure coherence, and uphold ethical and quality standards.
- Demonstrated interest in politics, society, culture, and public affairs, particularly in the Indian context.
- Ability to conduct rigorous research, verify information, and synthesize complex material into accessible content.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced but detail-oriented newsroom environment, with the ability to manage multiple stories and deadlines.
- Relevant academic background in journalism, communications, media studies, political science, or related fields, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience in digital media, documentary work, or long-form journalism is an advantage.
