Job Objective – To Deliver Sterile, Exact and Patient cantered Perioperative care during Pre, Intra and Post surgical Phases while ensuring Safety and Comfort. Adhere to Protocols and best practices for optimal health outcomes.

Activities & Responsibilities

Operational

1. Prepare the OT by Checking Sterilization, Surgical Instruments and required consumables prior to each procedure.
2. Receive and Verify the Identity and patient preparation, clinical details of patients in the Preoperative area using a Standardized checklist.
3. Monitor patient physical and emotional status during pre-surgery preparation and report any concerns.
4. Assist in patient Positioning, Draping while ensuring privacy, safety and comfort.
5. Actively participate in Surgeries as Scrub Nurse or Circulating Nurse, maintaining aseptic technique all times.
6. Verify Surgical Safety checklist and Instruments count before, during and after the procedures.
7. Handle surgical Equipments other Devices safely and effectively.
8. Support anaesthesia team during induction and Emergence phases.
9. Ensure prompt Post operative transfer and handover of patients to Recovery or ICU.
10. Respond efficiently to Intra operative Emergencies and Follow Crash cart protocols.

Maintain strict Infection Control Protocols including Hand Hygiene, Biomedical waste segregation, etc.
12. Ensure biomedical equipments is cleaned, labelled and stored as per protocol after each case.
13. Report Equipment malfunction or shortage promptly and coordinate for timely repairs or replacements.
14. Checks special assignments like checking of Inventory and any other assignment given by Team Leader.
15. Attends all in-service education programs, External Workshop and certification programs for continuous skill enhancement.

Customer Related –

1. Communicate politely and professionally with patients Pre operatively to reduce anxiety and clarify queries
2. Ensure Patient Identity, Procedure Site and Consent validation to uphold safety and trust.
3. Uphold Patient Dignity and Confidentiality.
4. Offer Emotional Support and Promote Patient Safety at every stage of care.
5. Respect diverse cultural beliefs and preferences regarding surgical care.

Administration Related-

1. Maintain accurate Record of OT notes, Instrument usage, and patient reports.
2. Ensure compliance with Hospital policies, Safety Regulations and Ethical Standards.

1. Report and Record Incidents or Adverse Events as per hospital Policy.
2. Support Orientation and mentoring of newly joined Nurses or Trainees.
3. Support Inventory control by tracking usage of surgical supplies and reporting needs.
