Senior Manager – Regulatory Affairs (Specialty Chemicals)

Role Overview

Aquapharm Chemical Limited is looking to hire a Senior Manager – Regulatory Affairs to lead and execute global regulatory compliance activities for its specialty chemical portfolio. This role will be responsible for REACH, CLP, GHS, TSCA, EPA compliance and will work closely with R&D;, Production, QC, and senior management to ensure regulatory readiness across international markets.

The position is based at Aquapharm’s Innovation Lab in Pune and reports directly to the Head – R&D.;

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage global regulatory compliance activities related to specialty and industrial chemicals

- Prepare, review, and maintain MSDS/SDS, labels, safety cards, technical datasheets, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations

- Own REACH registrations, updates, and regulatory strategy; participate in or lead REACH consortia on behalf of the organization

- Ensure compliance with EU REACH, CLP, GHS, and US chemical regulations (TSCA, EPA)

- Coordinate with internal teams (R&D;, Production, QC, CRM, Purchase) and external agencies/testing laboratories for regulatory documentation and submissions

- Provide regulatory documentation and compliance support to internal stakeholders and external customers

- Track and interpret regulatory changes (e.g.,



Brexit-related updates) and assess business impact

- Maintain regulatory databases and ensure timely release of updated documentation to relevant users

- Guide and mentor junior team members within the regulatory function

Key Skills & Competencies

Essential

- Strong working knowledge of REACH, CLP, GHS, and global chemical regulatory frameworks

- Hands-on experience with MSDS/SDS authoring, classification, and labelling

- Solid understanding of toxicology, environmental, health & safety test protocols and their interpretation

- Experience dealing with regulatory authorities, consortia, and notified bodies

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional coordination ability

Desirable

- Experience leading REACH consortia or acting as Lead Registrant

- Exposure to US chemical regulations (TSCA, EPA)

- Ability to apply regulatory intelligence to R&D; and business decision-making

Education & Experience

- M.Sc. in Chemistry (preferably Organic Chemistry)

OR

- M.Pharm with relevant regulatory / EHS diploma or certification

Experience:

- 10–15+ years of regulatory affairs experience in specialty chemicals, industrial chemicals, paints, or related industries

Industry Preference

- Specialty / performance chemicals

- Industrial or water treatment chemicals

- Polymers, phosphonates, coatings, detergents

- Paints and allied chemical industries
