Role Purpose:
To independently lead and oversee day-to-day Finance & Accounts activities, statutory compliance, banking operations, working capital, MIS, audit coordination and financial closure. The incumbent will be responsible for preparing/reviewing key financial statements, reports and statutory requirements, while supervising and guiding two accountants responsible for routine accounting activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Finance & Accounts Leadership
- Lead the day-to-day Finance & Accounts function with support from two Accountants.
- Allocate work, monitor performance and ensure timely completion of accounting activities.
- Review accounting entries, ledgers, reconciliations and supporting documents prepared by the team.
- Establish proper accounting controls and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Act as the primary point of coordination for management on Finance & Accounts matters.
2. Financial Accounting & Finalisation
- Take ownership of monthly, quarterly and annual closing of books of accounts.
- Prepare and/or lead the preparation of Profit & Loss Account, Balance Sheet, schedules and supporting statements.
- Ensure timely finalisation of accounts in coordination with auditors and consultants.
- Prepare and review cash-flow statements, fund-flow statements and working-capital reports.
- Analyse major variances and provide financial inputs to management.
3. GST, TDS & Statutory Compliance
- Have solid hands-on experience in GST and TDS and independently handle/review statutory compliance.
- Review GST workings, reconciliations, returns and related documentation.
- Review TDS calculations, payments, returns and reconciliations.
- Ensure all statutory payments and returns are completed within prescribed timelines.
- Coordinate with tax consultants and authorities for assessments, notices and other statutory matters.
4. Banking Operations & Bank Guarantees
- Independently handle and oversee banking operations.
- Manage Bank Guarantees (BGs), Letters of Credit (LCs), renewals, amendments, closures and related documentation.
- Coordinate directly with banks for banking requirements and documentation.
- Monitor banking facilities, charges, limits and related records.
- Review and ensure weekly Bank Reconciliation Statements (BRS).
5. Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Supervise the team in maintaining live age-wise AP and AR MIS.
- Review vendor outstanding and prepare/approve projected cash outflow.
- Review customer outstanding and prepare/monitor projected cash inflow.
- Coordinate with Commercial, Purchase and Project teams for collections and payments.
- Escalate critical overdue receivables/payables to management.
6. Government Receivables & Incentives
- Take ownership of government receivables and claims.
- Ensure timely submission and follow-up of GST refunds, Duty Drawback (DBK), RoDTEP, ITR/tax refunds and export incentives, wherever applicable.
- Monitor outstanding government receivables and ensure timely realization.
- Maintain appropriate documentation for government claims and assessments.
7. Audit & Assessment
- Lead coordination for Internal, Statutory/External and Government audits.
- Prepare and review audit schedules, reconciliations and supporting documents.
- Coordinate with auditors and consultants and ensure timely responses to audit queries.
- Track and close audit observations and compliance points.
8. OC-wise / Project-wise Costing
- Ensure 100% transaction tagging with OC/Order/Cost Centre.
- Lead OC-wise/project-wise cost monitoring and reporting.
- Review project-related expenses and ensure correct accounting allocation.
- Coordinate with Project, Procurement, Commercial and Operations teams for cost information.
9. Cash Flow & Working Capital
- Prepare and regularly update the cash-flow statement and cash-flow forecast.
- Monitor actual versus projected cash inflows and outflows.
- Support management in working-capital planning.
- Monitor receivables, payables, bank balances and upcoming financial commitments.
10. Team Management
- Supervise and guide two Accountants.
- Define daily/weekly responsibilities and review work completion.
- Review their accounting entries, reconciliations, AP/AR MIS and documentation.
- Train team members on accounting processes and statutory requirements.
- Ensure adequate cross-training and backup for critical activities.
