About The Role

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer specializing in Ruby to join our client’s dynamic team on a remote, full-time basis. This role focuses on evaluating and validating large language models (LLMs) and their ability to interact with real-world software engineering tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Ruby development, experience with open-source projects, and a keen interest in AI and machine learning applications.

You will be instrumental in building datasets and evaluation frameworks that help improve LLM performance across various programming languages and complexity levels. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with a deep proficiency in Ruby and Ruby on Rails.



You should have a solid understanding of Git version control, Docker containerization, and setting up reproducible development environments.

Experience navigating complex codebases, running, modifying, and testing code locally is essential. Familiarity with Ruby testing frameworks such as RSpec and Minitest, gem management using Bundler, and code quality tools is required. Prior contributions to open-source projects or experience evaluating open-source repositories will be considered a significant advantage.

Candidates should demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer in this role, your key responsibilities will include analyzing and triaging issues from trending open-source libraries on GitHub to identify suitable evaluation scenarios for LLMs. You will set up and configure code repositories, including containerizing environments with Docker to ensure reproducibility. Evaluating unit test coverage and code quality metrics will be part of your routine to assess the health of codebases and the robustness of test suites.

You will modify and run Ruby codebases locally, measuring the performance of LLMs in bug-fixing and code-completion tasks.



Collaboration with AI researchers will be vital in designing repositories and selecting challenging issues that push the boundaries of current LLM capabilities.
