About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer specializing in Ruby to join our client’s dynamic team on a full-time basis. This remote position offers the flexibility to work from anywhere, making it ideal for professionals who thrive in a distributed work environment. The role focuses on evaluating and enhancing large language models (LLMs) through the development and validation of software engineering datasets.

The candidate will play a pivotal role in building datasets that simulate real-world software engineering challenges, leveraging public repository histories and synthetic methods with human-in-the-loop processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Ruby development, experience with open-source projects, and a keen interest in AI and machine learning applications related to software engineering.

Qualifications The successful candidate will possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with a proven track record in Ruby and Ruby on Rails development.



Proficiency in Git for version control, Docker for containerization, and setting up reproducible software pipelines is essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to navigate complex, real-world codebases, modify code, and run tests locally.

Familiarity with Ruby testing frameworks such as RSpec and Minitest, as well as gem management tools like Bundler, is required.

Experience contributing to or evaluating open-source projects is considered a plus, highlighting a collaborative mindset and community engagement. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment are key attributes for this role.

Responsibilities The primary responsibilities include analyzing and triaging issues from trending open-source libraries on GitHub to identify suitable evaluation scenarios for LLMs. The candidate will set up and configure code repositories, including containerizing environments with Docker to ensure reproducibility. Conducting assessments of unit test coverage and code quality metrics will be part of the routine to gauge baseline code health and robustness of test suites.

The role also involves modifying Ruby codebases, running tests locally,



and measuring the performance of LLMs in bug-fixing and code-completion tasks. Collaboration with AI researchers to select repositories and issues that present challenging cases for language models is essential, requiring effective communication and teamwork to refine evaluation strategies.
