With the Indian coal industry witnessing significant expansion and modernisation, the Company’s Material Handling Division is strategically positioned to capitalise on emerging opportunities in coal handling and associated infrastructure projects.

The Division undertakes planning, design, engineering, construction, fabrication, erection, supply, installation, testing, trial run, and commissioning of Coal Handling Plants (CHP) and SILO loading systems, encompassing complete civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and associated infrastructure works.

Position Summary The Site In-Charge shall be the overall custodian of project execution at the Lakhanpur project site and will be responsible for end-to-end construction management and site administration activities. The incumbent shall ensure timely, safe, and quality execution of all civil, mechanical, fabrication, structural, electrical, and commissioning-related activities in line with project specifications, contractual obligations, and organisational standards.

The role demands strong techno-commercial acumen, execution capability, client-handling skills, leadership ability, and coordination with multiple stakeholders, including contractors, consultants, clients, statutory authorities, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Overall Site Execution & Construction Management

- Lead and supervise complete site execution activities related to:
- Civil construction works
- Structural erection works
- Mechanical erection and installation
- Fabrication activities
- Electrical installation works
- Equipment erection and commissioning support

- Ensure execution in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications, project schedules, and quality standards.
- Monitor daily progress of work and ensure achievement of project milestones.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, planning, and project management teams for smooth execution.
- Ensure optimum deployment and utilization of manpower, machinery, materials, and other resources at site.




- Identify execution bottlenecks and proactively implement corrective actions.

2. Site Coordination & Project Monitoring

- Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
- Conduct regular site review meetings with contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
- Coordinate with Head Office for engineering clarifications, procurement follow-ups, and technical support.
- Ensure compliance with project timelines and budgetary targets.
- Maintain site records, measurement books, work completion reports, and execution documentation.

3. Quality Assurance & Compliance

- Ensure all construction and erection activities comply with approved quality standards and inspection requirements.
- Coordinate inspections with clients, consultants, and third-party inspection agencies.
- Ensure adherence to statutory requirements, contractual obligations, and company policies.
- Support preparation and closure of punch points during commissioning and handover stages.

4. Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)

- Ensure strict compliance with safety standards and HSE guidelines at the project site.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure implementation of secure work practices.
- Conduct regular safety reviews and toolbox talks in coordination with the HSE team.
- Ensure availability and proper use of PPE and safety systems.
- Report and investigate incidents, unsafe conditions, and near misses.

5. Client Interface & Liaison

- Act as the primary site-level interface with clients, consultants, local authorities, and external stakeholders.
- Maintain cordial and skilled relations with the client team and ensure timely resolution of site-related issues.
- Support statutory liaison and coordination activities required for smooth project execution.
- Represent the Company during client meetings, inspections, and progress reviews.

6. Site Administration & Resource Management

- Oversee site administration activities including accommodation, transportation, utilities, security, and local logistics.
- Manage and supervise site staff, subcontractors, supervisors, and workmen.
- Ensure discipline, productivity, and morale at the project site.
- Monitor material receipt,



storage, consumption, and inventory control at site.

7. Commissioning & Project Closure

- Support testing, trial runs, commissioning, and stabilization activities.
- Ensure timely completion and handover of project deliverables.
- Facilitate preparation of as-built documentation and project closure reports.
- Assist in final reconciliation of materials, contracts, and site resources.

Desired Candidate Profile

Educational Qualification

- Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.

Experience

- Minimum 12–18 years of relevant experience in construction and execution of industrial projects, preferably in:
- Coal Handling Plants (CHP)
- Material Handling Systems
- Mining Infrastructure Projects
- Heavy Industrial / EPC Projects
- Power / Steel / Cement sectors

- Experience in handling multi-disciplinary construction activities at remote project sites is essential.

Working Conditions

- The role is site-based at Lakhanpur, Odisha.
- Extensive interaction with contractors, vendors, clients, and project stakeholders will be required.
- The incumbent should be willing to work in demanding construction site environments and travel as per project requirements.
