2Base Technologies is a custom software development company with over 16 years of delivery experience, working as an enterprise solutions partner for clients in the United States, the United Kingdom and other global markets. Our work spans custom software development, AI implementation, legacy system modernization and operational transformation.
We are building our marketing function, and organic search sits at the centre of it. This internship is a place on that build. You will learn how search works on a real website with real commercial stakes, under people who do this for a living, and you will do actual work rather than shadow someone doing it.
What This Role Exists to Do
Organic search at 2Base is being built to bring buyers in the United States and the United Kingdom to our website at the point where they are deciding who to hire. That takes a large volume of well-targeted pages, a clean technical base and constant checking of what is working.
Search work divides into three areas and this role covers all three.On-page is what is on the page itself: the words it targets, how it is titled and structured, how it links to the rest of the site.
Off-page is the authority that comes from other credible websites pointing at it, which is patient work of finding the right sites, writing to real people and following up. Technical is whether search engines can reach, read and index the site at all.
You will work across all three. The Organic Growth and SEO Specialist sets the direction and the quality standard, and reviews what you produce. You do a great deal of the work.
Internship Duration: 6 Months
What You Will Do
On-page SEO
- Keyword research for assigned service areas: finding the terms, sorting them by what the searcher is trying to do, and writing a short note on why each one matters to 2Base
- On-page work on live pages: page titles, meta descriptions, heading structure, image alt text and internal links, made against a brief and checked before publishing
- Internal linking across the site, so that the pages that matter commercially are reachable and connected
- Competitor checks on assigned terms: who is ranking, what their page does, and what is missing from ours
- Working with the Content and Thought Leadership Specialist, who writes the pages. You brief on the search side and check the published page against the brief.
Off-page SEO
- Prospecting link targets: finding relevant sites, publications, partner sites and resource pages in the United States and the United Kingdom,
and putting each one forward for approval with a short note on why it is worth approaching
- Outreach: writing and sending the approach emails, following up on a defined schedule, and handling the replies, including the ones that say no
- Keeping the outreach record: who was contacted, when, what was said, what happened, and what is due for follow-up. An outreach programme without a record is the same programme run twice.
- Tracking placements: confirming links went live, that they point where they should, and that they stay live
- Monitoring the backlink profile: watching what is arriving and flagging anything low quality, spam-driven or unrelated
- Toxic link work: identifying harmful or manipulative links, assembling the evidence for each one, and preparing the disavow file for the Organic Growth and SEO Specialist to review and submit
- Competitor backlink analysis: looking at who links to competitors and does not link to us, and turning that gap into a prospect list
- Directory and listing consistency: making sure 2Base appears with the same name, address and details wherever it is listed
Technical SEO
• Running the recurring site audit and turning it into a fix list a developer can act on: broken links, redirect chains, missing or duplicate metadata, thin or orphaned pages
- Crawling and indexing checks in Google Search Console: what is indexed, what is excluded and why, what has dropped out since last week
- Sitemap and robots.txt checks, and flagging anything that is blocking a page that should be found
- Page speed and Core Web Vitals reporting, with the worst offenders identified and passed to the development team with the evidence
- Mobile usability checks and basic structured data validation
- Documenting each finding clearly enough that a developer can act on it without coming back with questions. You diagnose and document; the development team implements.
Across all three
• Weekly monitoring in Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4: what moved, what broke, what is newly indexed, and what has dropped out
- The monthly organic summary: traffic, ranking movement, pages live, links gained, Search Console health, written up rather than sent as a set of screenshots
- A running note of what changed on the site and when, so that a change in the numbers can be traced back to a cause
Two things are worth saying plainly. Everything you publish and every email you send is reviewed before it goes out for the first three months, so you will not be working unsupervised on a live site. And 2Base does not buy links or pay for placement, at any price, on any site. Nothing in this role involves it.
Requirements
Education Final-year student or recent graduate in marketing, business, communications, computer applications, engineering or a related field.
BBA, BCA, MCA, MBA, BTech and similar qualifications are all in scope.
We are not filtering on the degree title. Candidates from other backgrounds who can show real work with search are considered on that work.
Foundations
• A working understanding of what search engines do and why a page ranks. You should be able to explain the difference between what someone is searching for and the words they type.
- Comfort with numbers in a spreadsheet: sorting, filtering, a simple formula, and reading a trend without needing it explained.
- Clear written English, and specifically the ability to write a short email to a stranger that they might actually answer. Much of this role is written approach and follow-up.
- Any hands-on contact with Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, WordPress or a similar tool is useful and is not required. We will teach the tools.
Good to Have
• A blog, a site, a channel or a store of your own that you have tried to get found, however small, and whatever happened to it
- Any experience of approaching strangers in writing and getting a reply: outreach, sales, fundraising, event sponsorship, college placement work, freelance pitching. The setting does not matter.
- Any coursework, certification or self-study in digital marketing, analytics or search
- Basic familiarity with HTML page structure
- An interest in how businesses in the United States and the United Kingdom search differently from businesses in India
