Role Description The Senior Trade and Investment Officer is a full-time, on-site role based at the Consulate General of Canada in Mumbai. The officer will identify and develop trade and investment opportunities, support Canadian companies seeking to enter or expand in the Indian market, and promote Canada as a destination for high-quality, sustainable investment. Day-to-day tasks include conducting market and sector research, analyzing investment trends, preparing briefings and reports, and organizing business meetings, missions, and events with key public and private stakeholders.

The role also involves building and maintaining strategic relationships with business leaders, investors, industry associations, and government officials,



while coordinating closely with colleagues across the Government of Canada. The officer will contribute to policy and program development by providing evidence-based recommendations and ensuring alignment with Canada’s trade and investment priorities.

Qualifications

- Solid foundation in Finance and Investments, with the ability to interpret financial data and market information.
- Experience in Investment Management and Portfolio Management, including assessing risk and return profiles for trade and investment opportunities.
- Advanced Analytical Skills, with proven capacity to conduct market research, evaluate complex economic trends, and produce clear, data-driven insights.
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage stakeholder relationships, including businesses, investors, and government counterparts.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; additional language skills relevant to the region are an asset.
- Relevant university degree in economics, finance, business, international relations, or a related field; comparable experience may be considered.
- Experience working in international trade, investment promotion, economic development, or a related field, ideally in a cross-cultural environment.
- Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight timelines.
