Job Title: Senior Tool Designer

Qualification: BE/BTech in Mechanical Engineering (Mandatory)

Preferred: Post-Graduation in Tool Design

Experience: 10–12 Years

Location: Chakan, Pune, Maharashtra

Senior Tool Designer:

- BE/BTech in Mechanical Engineering with 10–12 years of experience in Press Tool, Jigs & Fixtures Design, preferably within automotive/wheel manufacturing.
- Strong experience in designing Press Tools, Blanking, Forming, Piercing, Coining, Trimming, Draw Dies, Welding and Machining Fixtures.
- Experience in developing tooling solutions for new wheel development, including tooling process flow, blank size, press tonnage, stripping force and pad pressure calculations.
- Strong knowledge of press machine selection based on tooling and process requirements.
- Experience in 3D tool design and modelling using SolidWorks, CATIA or similar 3D CAD software.
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and 2D drafting for tooling design.
- Experience in tool try-out and troubleshooting during T0/T1 trials, validating tool performance and implementing design modifications based on trial observations.
- Experience in coordinating with toolmakers and external vendors for tool manufacturing, assembly and development.
- Strong understanding of tool standardization, Poka-Yoke, weight reduction, material cost optimization and cycle-time improvement.

Experience, Skills & Technical Requirements:

- Strong hands-on experience in Press Tool, Jigs & Fixtures Design and Development.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks/CATIA.
- Knowledge of MS Office, MS Project and basic SAP MM.
- Knowledge of tool steel materials,



surface coatings and innovative tooling practices.
- Exposure to HyperForm, HyperMesh, HyperGraph and Radios/other simulation solvers will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of PFMEA, PPAP, QMS and IATF requirements.
- Familiarity with EMS, OHSAS/ISO 45001, TPM, Kaizen and continuous improvement activities.
- Strong project management, analytical, problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities:

- Plan, design and develop press tools, jigs and fixtures for current wheel development projects.
- Define tooling process flow and perform blank size, press tonnage, stripping force and pad pressure calculations.
- Select suitable press machines and ensure tooling meets manufacturing and quality requirements.
- Plan project schedules, coordinate activities and monitor tool development timelines and resource utilization.
- Participate in tool try-outs and T0/T1 trials, troubleshoot issues and implement necessary design modifications.
- Coordinate with toolmakers/vendors and provide technical support during tool manufacturing and assembly.
- Generate purchase requisitions for tooling development and consumable requirements.
- Develop and implement tool design standards, SOPs, work instructions and formats for the Process Engineering department.
- Provide technical support for tool maintenance, repair and improvement activities.
- Support PFMEA updates based on MOMs and cross-functional team discussions.
- Drive standardization, Poka-Yoke, cost reduction, weight reduction and cycle-time improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with Product Design, Manufacturing, Quality and Maintenance teams to ensure smooth tooling development and production.
- Stay updated on new tool materials, surface coatings, innovative tooling practices and automation technologies.
