Purpose of the Role

The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring quality assurance and supplier quality development for Powertrain commodities including Engine, Transmission, Driveline, Axles, Castings, Forgings, Machined Parts, and Engine/Transmission Assemblies.

The role will drive supplier capability enhancement, new product development quality planning, supplier audits, problem-solving initiatives, and continuous improvement activities to achieve world-class quality performance aligned with Tata Motors quality standards.

Job Responsibility

Supplier Quality Assurance • Manage the quality performance of suppliers supplying powertrain components. • Lead supplier quality assurance activities for Engine, Transmission, Gearbox, Axle, Machined Components, Forgings, Castings, and proprietary parts. • Monitor supplier quality KPIs such as PPM, Rejections, Warranty, Cost of Poor Quality, and Delivery Compliance. • Ensure supplier compliance to Tata Motors quality requirements and customer specific requirements.

Supplier Development • Identify supplier capability gaps and drive improvement projects. • Lead supplier quality improvement initiatives to reduce defects and improve process capability. • Support supplier localization and new supplier development programs. • Establish robust process controls at supplier locations using quality core tools.

APQP & Current Product Development • Drive APQP activities for new product development programs. • Review and approve: o Process Flow Diagrams o PFMEA o Control Plans o MSA Studies o SPC Plans o PPAP Documentation • Participate in supplier feasibility reviews and manufacturing readiness assessments. • Ensure flawless launch of new powertrain components.

Supplier Audits • Conduct and lead:



o Process Audits o Product Audits o System Audits o Run-at-Rate Audits o Capacity Verification Audits o Special Process Audits • Ensure closure of audit non-conformities within defined timelines. • Assess supplier manufacturing systems and process capability.

Problem Solving & Field Issues • Lead supplier concern resolution using: o 8D o 5 Why o Fishbone Analysis o A3 Problem Solving o QRQC • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for: o Incoming quality issues o Manufacturing line concerns o Market failures o Warranty issues • Validate effectiveness and sustainability of corrective actions.

Cross-Functional Coordination • Work closely with: o Purchasing o Manufacturing Engineering o Product Development o Plant Quality o Supplier Development Teams o Production Teams • Support cost reduction and value engineering projects.

Quality Systems • Ensure compliance to: o IATF 16949 o ISO 9001 o AIAG Core Tools o VDA Requirements o Customer Specific Requirements

Desired Candidate Profile

- Education BE / B Tech
- Relevant Experience: 3 – 9 Years
- Experience working with Automotive Industry.
- Having comprehensive knowledge of commodity and proficiency in manufacturing process, technology, supplier base domestic & international, APQP & PPAP, Manufacturing process and tooling knowledge
