AI Builder – Documentation & Developer Platform

About The Role

We are looking for an experienced AI Builder who combines strong software engineering fundamentals with hands-on experience building applications using Generative AI and emerging AI technologies.

In this role, you will build the next generation of AI-powered tools and experiences for our documentation platform. The initial focus will be on developing platform tooling, automation, content workflows, integrations, search, and knowledge capabilities. Over time, the role will expand into AI-assisted authoring, intelligent content processing, AI-powered knowledge experiences, and agentic workflows.

This is a hands-on engineering role. The ideal candidate is a full-stack/product developer who knows how to apply AI to real-world software problems and can take an idea from concept and prototype through production.

Here is how, through this exciting role, YOU will contribute to BMC's and your own success:

- Build AI-powered applications, tools, and workflows for our documentation platform.
- Develop full-stack solutions spanning frontend, backend, APIs, databases, integrations, and cloud services.




- Build AI capabilities using LLMs, RAG, embeddings, semantic search, tool calling, and agentic workflows.
- Develop AI agents that can interact with documentation repositories, developer tools, APIs, and enterprise systems.
- Build automation for content creation, transformation, validation, publishing, and maintenance.
- Develop integrations with Git repositories, content platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and enterprise services.
- Build knowledge and search experiences across large documentation repositories.
- Prototype new AI capabilities rapidly and turn successful prototypes into production-quality applications.
- Evaluate current AI models, frameworks, agent technologies, and developer tools and determine how they can be applied to product use cases.
- Work closely with product managers, architects, UX, documentation/IX, and engineering teams to turn ideas into working solutions.
- Own features end-to-end, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing improvement.

To ensure you’re set up for success, you will bring the following skillset & experience

- 6–10 years of professional software development experience, with approximately 8 years preferred.
- Strong hands-on programming experience in Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, or similar languages.
- Strong full-stack development experience, including frontend and backend application development.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, APIs, databases, data structures, and application design.
- Experience building and deploying production applications.
- Experience working with cloud platforms and modern development practices.
- Hands-on experience building applications using Generative AI / LLM technologies.
- Practical understanding of RAG, embeddings, vector search, prompt engineering, structured outputs, tool/function calling, and AI orchestration.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to rapidly learn and apply new AI technologies.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of ideas from prototype through production.

Whilst these are nice to have, our team can help you develop in the following skills:

- Experience building AI agents or agentic applications.
- Experience with agent frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, Semantic Kernel, or equivalent.
- Experience with MCP or similar approaches for connecting AI applications to tools and enterprise systems.
- Experience with vector databases such as Qdrant, Pinecone, Weaviate,



Milvus, or equivalent.
- Experience with documentation platforms, developer tools, content-management systems, knowledge platforms, search, or content-as-code.
- Experience working with Git-based content workflows.
- Experience building AI-powered search, knowledge, or enterprise applications.
- Experience with AI evaluation, observability, guardrails, and quality measurement.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and cloud-native application development.
