Position Summary:

Marriott International is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team within our Revenue Management and Pricing Technology organization, responsible for the design, development, and delivery of scalable, cloud-native applications supporting critical business capabilities. The role provides technical and people leadership across the full software development lifecycle, with technologies including Java, Spring Boot, React, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes/EKS, PostgreSQL, DocumentDB/MongoDB, Couchbase, Kafka, and Scala/Spark. The manager will drive platform modernization, architecture and engineering standards, performance and scalability, CI/CD, quality and release practices, operational reliability, and continuous improvement while partnering closely with Product, UX, Architecture, QE, and other engineering teams to deliver reliable, maintainable solutions and build strong engineering capabilities.

This position is ideal for a seasoned engineering leader with 8–10 years of experience, including prior experience managing engineers, driving technical execution, and fostering a culture of growth, collaboration, and accountability.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead, coach, and develop a team of software engineers,



providing regular feedback, career guidance, and performance evaluations.
- Own the delivery of complex software projects from planning through execution, ensuring high quality and timely outcomes.
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and business stakeholders to define technical direction and align engineering efforts with strategic goals.
- Provide technical leadership in architecture, design, and platform modernization, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure, and aligned with enterprise standards.
- Foster a culture of engineering excellence through mentorship, technical leadership, and continuous improvement.
- Drive adoption of best practices in software development, including test automation, CI/CD, agile methodologies, code reviews, secure coding, and effective SDLC practices.
- Drive improvements in application performance, scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency, including capacity planning and performance optimization.
- Support team members in resolving technical challenges and removing roadblocks to productivity.
- Champion diversity, inclusion, and psychological safety within the team.
- Manage resource planning, hiring, and onboarding to support team growth and project needs.
- Ensure operational excellence by partnering with DevOps and infrastructure teams on deployment, monitoring, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
- Partner with Product, UX, QE, Architecture, and other engineering teams to ensure end-to-end solution quality and successful delivery across organizational boundaries.

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8–10 years of skilled software development experience, including:
- Strong background in Java/JEE, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
- Experience with front-end frameworks such as ReactJS.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, such as PostgreSQL, Couchbase, and DocumentDB/MongoDB.




- Experience with containerization and orchestration, such as Docker and Kubernetes/EKS.
- Experience building distributed and event-driven systems using Pub/Sub, messaging, and streaming platforms such as Kafka.
- Solid understanding of DevOps practices, including Git, Harness/Jenkins, JIRA, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, design principles, scalability, performance, and reliability for enterprise applications.
- Experience with production support, monitoring, incident management, and root-cause analysis.
- 2 years of experience in a formal engineering management or team lead role.
- Proven ability to lead and grow engineering teams, manage performance, and support career development.
- Strong project and delivery management skills, with experience in agile delivery, cross-functional collaboration, and end-to-end SDLC ownership.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and align diverse technical and business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with enterprise integration patterns and integration frameworks such as Apache Camel.
- Exposure to distributed systems, concurrency, and high-throughput application architectures.
- Familiarity with distributed data processing and batch-processing technologies, such as Spark and Scala, and cloud-based data platforms such as EMR.
- Background in travel, hospitality, revenue management, or pricing systems.
- Experience contributing to architectural decisions, platform modernization, and long-term technical strategy.
- Experience driving performance optimization, capacity planning, and scalability improvements for enterprise applications.
- Experience working with observability and application performance monitoring tools and practices.
