Job Overview

Senior Atlassian Engineer (Jira / Jira Align / Jira Cloud / Confluence)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Atlassian Engineer to lead the design, implementation, administration, and optimization of the Atlassian ecosystem, including Jira Cloud, Jira Align, and Confluence. This role will be responsible for ensuring the platform supports Agile delivery, portfolio management, enterprise collaboration, governance, and reporting needs across multiple business units.

The ideal candidate possesses deep technical expertise in Atlassian products, strong experience supporting Agile and SAFe organizations, and the ability to partner with business stakeholders, PMOs, Agile teams, and executive leadership to drive platform adoption and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Administration &

- Engineering

- Administer, configure, and maintain Jira Cloud, Jira Align, and Confluence environments.
- Design and implement scalable solutions to support Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and Secure frameworks.
- Manage projects, workflows, permissions, issue types, schemes, screens, custom fields, and automation rules.
- Develop and enforce Atlassian platform governance, standards, and best practices.
- Perform platform upgrades, testing, change management, and release management activities.
- Ensure platform performance, security, reliability, and availability.

Jira Cloud &
- Automation

- Configure advanced Jira workflows, automations, dashboards, filters, and reporting solutions.
- Develop automation solutions using Jira Automation, REST APIs, webhooks,



and third-party integrations.
- Troubleshoot platform issues and perform root cause analysis for complex technical problems.
- Optimize Jira configurations to improve team productivity and reduce administrative overhead.
- Manage user access, permissions, groups, and security models.

Jira Align Administration
- Configure and support Jira Align for enterprise Agile planning and portfolio management.
- Maintain portfolio, program, value stream, and team-level structures.
- Partner with PMOs, Release Train Engineers (RTEs), Product Managers, and Agile Coaches to improve planning processes.
- Configure reporting and metrics supporting strategic initiatives and executive leadership visibility.
- Support PI Planning, roadmap management, dependency tracking, and capacity planning activities.

Confluence Administration
- Design and administer Confluence spaces, templates, permissions, and content governance standards.
- Develop collaborative knowledge management solutions and documentation frameworks.
- Implement best practices around content lifecycle management and information architecture.
- Drive adoption of Confluence as the enterprise knowledge repository.

Integrations &
- Development

- Design and support integrations between Atlassian products and enterprise platforms including:
- Azure DevOps
- ServiceNow
- Microsoft Teams
- Power BI
- CI/CD tools
- Identity and access management systems
- Utilize REST APIs, scripting, and integration tools to automate processes and improve data consistency.
- Evaluate and implement Atlassian Marketplace applications and plugins.

Reporting &
- Analytics

- Build executive-level dashboards and reporting solutions.
- Develop KPIs and metrics supporting Agile maturity, delivery performance, capacity planning, and portfolio health.
- Provide actionable insights through Jira Align and Jira reporting capabilities.
- Partner with business leaders to establish meaningful operational metrics.

Leadership &
- Stakeholder Management

- Serve as the subject matter expert for Atlassian products and Agile tooling.
- Lead platform improvement initiatives and strategic roadmap planning.
- Mentor junior administrators and engineers.
- Collaborate with business, technology, PMO, product management, and executive stakeholders.
- Provide guidance on Agile and SAFe best practices.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of experience administering and supporting Jira and Confluence environments.
- 4+ years of experience with Jira Cloud administration.
- 3+ years of experience supporting Jira Align implementations and administration.
- Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe methodologies.




- Experience configuring complex Jira workflows, automation rules, permission schemes, and reporting solutions.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale Atlassian environments with 1,000+ users.
- Experience with Atlassian REST APIs and integrations.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

- Atlassian Certified Professional (ACP) certifications.
- Jira Administrator Certification.
- Jira Align Certification.
- SAFe Agilist (SA), SPC, or related SAFe certifications.
- Experience with SSO, SAML, Azure AD/Entra ID integration.
- Experience with ScriptRunner, Structure, Tempo, BigPicture, EazyBI, or similar Atlassian applications.
- Experience supporting cloud migration initiatives.
- Experience with Power BI and enterprise reporting solutions.
- Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD integrations.

Compensation

Estimated Pay Range Exact compensation and offers of employment are dependent on circumstances of each case and will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, licenses or certifications, and location.
