Position Overview
:
- Individual will be responsible for the end-to-end management of complex client, third party and insolvency payment onboarding and periodic reviews, acting as the primary first-line risk assessor and case owner for Client Due Diligence (CDD) activities.
- This role requires a high degree of autonomy and expertise, with responsibility for identifying, verifying and screening higher-risk clients, third parties and insolvency payments, including those with complex ownership structures and international or multi-layered entities.
- Also required to undertake in-depth, multi-source research to identify and understand financial crime risks as part of enhanced due diligence, producing clear and well-reasoned risk summaries and escalations. These outputs support the Financial Crime Risk Advisory (second line) team in their assessment, advisory, and decision-making processes for higher-risk cases.
- Expert knowledge of UK regulatory requirements and sector-specific guidance is essential, ensuring that all decisions and recommendations are defensible and risk-based.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, verify, and critically assess client data and documentation, ensuring alignment with regulatory and firm standards.
- Profile clients and document ownership structures, including international structures, utilising standard requirements and exercising professional judgement.
- Conduct comprehensive sanctions, PEP, and adverse media screening.
- Update identification and ownership during periodic and event-driven reviews.
- Maintain clear audit trails, ensure files are ready for quality assurance and regulatory scrutiny.
- Escalate complex cases, risk indicators, and complex data gaps to Senior Analysts, constructively challenge insufficient or inconsistent information, and assist with follow-up research and second-line review.
- Engage confidently with client delivery teams, senior internal stakeholders, financial crime teams, and other risk and compliance colleagues to address queries and support a positive client experience.
Required Technical Knowledge and Skills
- Hold a degree in Finance, Business or Social Sciences
- Good knowledge of secondary research sources (e.g. Orbis, D&B;, companies house) would be an advantage
- Proficiency in MS Office (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint)
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a quick-paced and changing environment.
- Self-motivated and able to work without supervision
