ALT DMC — Kerala for the World
We are not looking for someone to sell Kerala holidays.
We are looking for someone who can understand Kerala, interpret Kerala and make the world curious about Kerala.
ALT DMC is building a different kind of inbound tourism practice — one that looks beyond beaches, backwaters and sightseeing.
We believe Kerala is more than a destination.
It is a fascinating social experiment shaped by migration, literacy, politics, religion, cooperatives, healthcare, education, ecology, local communities, food, labour, art and everyday life.
Our job is to turn these realities into meaningful experiences for travellers.
So, who are we looking for?
Someone who is naturally curious.
Someone who asks “Why?” before asking “How much?”
You could be a graduate in:
Sociology
Tourism
Political Science
Anthropology
Economics
History
Social Sciences
Development Studies
- Cultural Studies
Your degree matters less than your curiosity about Kerala and its society.
You should be someone who can walk through a village and see more than a village.
Someone who can meet a fisherman, farmer, artist, entrepreneur, politician, teacher or community worker and become genuinely interested in their story and the system around them.
And then turn that understanding into an experience that a traveller from Berlin, Tokyo, London or Singapore would remember for years.
What will you actually do?
You will help us build Kerala for the World.
Your work will include
- Developing relationships with international travel companies, DMCs, institutions and experience designers
- Understanding what international travellers are genuinely looking for
- Designing conversations, experiences and journeys around Kerala’s society and culture
- Researching communities, people, places and stories that deserve to be experienced
- Interpreting Kerala for an international audience
- Building B2B partnerships and bringing business to ALT DMC
- Participating in client conversations and converting ideas into commercial opportunities
- Working closely with our operations team to make ideas executable
- Constantly discovering what Kerala can offer that nobody else is selling
This is NOT for you if…
You are looking for a conventional travel-sales job.
If your idea of Kerala tourism is only:
Munnar → Thekkady → Alleppey → Kovalam → Airport this probably isn’t your place.
If you are uncomfortable with ambiguity, research, experimentation and creating something that doesn’t already have a template, you may not enjoy this role.
This IS for you if…
You read about Kerala even when nobody asks you to.
You are fascinated by why Kerala works the way it does.
You have opinions about tourism, society, development, politics, culture or communities — and you are willing to question your own opinions.
You can think commercially without thinking like a salesperson.
You can talk to a foreign traveller in the morning and a local community member in the afternoon.
You can turn a conversation into an idea, an idea into an experience, and an experience into a business.
A note from the Founder
Hi, I’m Rishad Kenikkal, Founder of ALT ADVENTURA.
I don’t want to build another travel company that simply moves people from one tourist attraction to another.
I want to build a company that helps people understand places differently.
Kerala is where we begin.
If you believe tourism can be a form of social interpretation, cultural exchange and human connection — and you want to build that with us — I’d like to hear from you.
Don’t send me a generic CV.
Tell me
“What is one thing about Kerala that you think the world doesn’t understand?”
And tell me why.
That’s your first interview.
