Role & responsibilities
We are seeking a highly disciplined, honest, and technically sound QC Engineer & Store Incharge to take full ownership of material quality and inventory management at our construction sites. This is a critical double-hat role. You will ensure that all incoming construction materials meet our strict quality standards while simultaneously managing the site store, tracking inventory levels, preventing wastage, and controlling material theft.
Preferred candidate profile
1. Quality Control & Quality Assurance (QC/QA)
- Material Inspection: Inspect all incoming site materials (Cement, Steel, Bricks, RMC, Tiles, Plumbing, and Electrical supplies) against approved brands and purchase orders.
- Site Testing: Conduct and supervise mandatory field tests (concrete slump tests, cube casting, brick water absorption tests, silt content tests).
- Lab Coordination: Coordinate with external certified laboratories for compressive strength and tensile testing; maintain systematic lab report registers.
- Checklist Enforcement: Implement daily QC checklists for structural stages (shuttering, reinforcement, casting) and finishing stages (plastering, waterproofing, tiling).
- Defect Rectification: Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) to contractors when work or material fails standards, and ensure speedy corrective action.
2. Store & Inventory Management
- Inward/Outward Tracking: Maintain error-free daily registers for all material entry (Inward) and sub-contractor allocations (Outward).
- System Entries:
Enter daily material receipts and consumption data into the company's ERP/CRM system or Excel trackers.
- Material Issuance: Issue construction materials to site teams strictly against authorized material requisition slips to prevent over-consumption.
- Stock Verification: Perform physical stock counts every week to match physical inventory with book records; flag any shortages or discrepancies immediately.
- Storage Optimization: Ensure secure, orderly, and weatherproof storage of high-value materials (such as cement bags, finishing fixtures, and electrical wiring) to prevent damage.
3. Vendor Coordination & Wastage Control
- Challan Verification: Verify Delivery Challans against actual physical quantities weighed or counted at the site gate.
- Scrap Management: Maintain a secure scrap yard and document the accumulation and disposal of construction scrap metal and waste material.
- Theft Prevention: Enforce strict security protocols at the store gates to eliminate material pilferage, leakage, or unauthorized removal.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Zero Quality Failures: Eliminating post-construction structural or finishing defects due to poor material check-ins.
- Inventory Accuracy: Maintaining 100% agreement between digital ERP records and physical site stock counts.
- Wastage Minimization: Keeping material breakage, spoilage, and theft at or below standard industry tolerance levels.
- Audit Readiness: Keeping all QC test registers, checklists, and material inward files updated for surprise management audits.
