Role Description The Quality Control Microbiologist is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai, responsible for ensuring that pharmaceutical products meet established microbiological quality and safety standards. Day-to-day activities include performing routine and non-routine microbiological tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products, as well as monitoring environmental and water systems.

The role involves operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, documenting test results accurately, and contributing to investigations of out-of-specification and out-of-trend results.

The Quality Control

Microbiologist will collaborate with manufacturing, quality assurance, and regulatory teams to support compliance with GMP and other relevant guidelines.



The position also includes participating in method validation, continuous improvement initiatives, and adherence to all safety and quality procedures.

Qualifications

- Strong Quality Control expertise, including familiarity with GMP, GLP, and regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical microbiology.
- Hands-on Laboratory Skills with aseptic techniques, sample preparation, and routine microbiological testing procedures.
- Solid Analytical Skills for interpreting data, troubleshooting test results, and supporting investigations and root cause analyses.
- Applied knowledge of Microbiology, including microorganism identification, bioburden testing, endotoxin testing, and sterility testing.
- Proficiency in using and maintaining Laboratory Equipment such as incubators, autoclaves, laminar airflow units, microscopes, and colony counters.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, or a related life science discipline.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to document results clearly and accurately.
- Attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Prior experience in a pharmaceutical or healthcare QC microbiology laboratory is preferred.
