Role Description The Purchasing Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Coimbatore and is responsible for overseeing all procurement activities related to raw materials, components, and services required for transformer manufacturing. This role involves identifying and evaluating suppliers, negotiating pricing and contracts, and ensuring materials are available on time and within budget.

The Purchasing

Manager collaborates closely with production, engineering, quality, and finance teams to align purchasing decisions with project timelines, technical specifications, and compliance standards.



Day-to-day responsibilities include managing purchase orders, monitoring inventory levels, analyzing cost trends, maintaining supplier relationships, and ensuring adherence to company policies and industry regulations. The role also requires continuous improvement of purchasing processes, supporting audits, and contributing to strategic sourcing initiatives that enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications

- Strong procurement and sourcing skills, including vendor evaluation, negotiation, and contract management.
- Experience in inventory control, materials planning, and supply chain coordination within a manufacturing setting.
- Knowledge of transformers, electrical equipment, or industrial products, and ability to understand technical specifications.
- Proficiency in using ERP or purchasing software, along with solid MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities with attention to cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
- Effective communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; relevant postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
- Prior experience in purchasing or supply chain roles in the electrical or heavy manufacturing industry is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 quality systems and compliance-oriented purchasing practices.
- Ability to work on-site in Coimbatore, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to evolving business needs.
