Role Description The Public Policy Intern will support research, analysis, and advocacy efforts related to cybersecurity policy, regulation, and digital governance. In this remote internship role, the intern will assist in monitoring legislative and regulatory developments, preparing briefing notes, policy summaries, and stakeholder reports. Daily tasks may include drafting policy memos, contributing to position papers, supporting outreach to governmental and industry stakeholders, and helping organize virtual meetings, roundtables, or consultations.
The intern will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align public policy initiatives with HackHalt’s broader mission and contribute to educational and awareness materials for diverse audiences. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience at the intersection of technology, public policy, and cyber intelligence.
Qualifications
- Strong interest and foundational knowledge in Governmental Affairs and Government Relations, with the ability to understand public sector processes and decision-making.
- Ability to work with Legislative Relations, including tracking policy developments and interpreting legislative and regulatory documents.
- Demonstrated Analytical Skills for policy research, data interpretation, and producing clear, evidence-based insights.
- Effective Communication skills, including concise writing, explicit presentation of complex topics, and professional stakeholder interaction.
- Relevant academic background in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, International Relations, Cybersecurity, or related fields (current enrollment or recent graduation).
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage remote work, deadlines, and multiple priorities.
- Comfort with digital collaboration tools and an interest in cybersecurity, technology policy, or digital rights.
- Prior internship, project, or volunteer experience in policy research, advocacy, or governance is advantageous but not required.
