Education : Preferably an MSW. Candidates with MBA degrees with relevant experience can be considered.
Experience: 3-5 years in program management in social sector.
Position Summary: The Ability People conducts several small and large-scale programs in disability services and support to ensure social integration.
The Program
Manager oversees all aspects of a designated program or a set of programs, ensuring alignment with the mission, strategic goals, and operational procedures of the organization. Apart from monitoring and evaluation, responsibilities for this position will include planning, organizing, staffing, leading, help organize funding, and reporting program activities to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Planning: Prepare a program implementation plan aligned with the program plan, organization’s vision, mission and strategic goals. Develop detailed annual operational plan for the program, including budgets and financial forecasts. Plan grant and funding proposals to support program continuity.
2. Organize the Program: Ensure compliance with internal policies, legal standards, and professional ethics. Develop and maintain documentation processes and records for client and program activities.
Implement systems for data collection and reporting in line with confidentiality protocols.
3. Staff the Program: Recruit, train, and manage program staff and volunteers in consultation with the Operations Manager and the Executive Director. Ensure compliance with HR policies for the program staff. Establish a performance management system for staff evaluations. Engage and supervise program volunteers using standardized practices. Provide thorough orientation and ongoing training to staff and volunteers. Identify training needs of the program staff.
4. Lead the Program: Provide daily supervision, support, and feedback to staff. Foster relationships with clients, community stakeholders, and internal teams. Coordinate inter-program communication and resource sharing. Advocate for the program and gather community input to inform program improvements.
5. Financial management: Documentation: Prepare and submit regular program and financial reports to management and funders. Ensure adherence to the approved budget; monitor expenditures and cash flow. Maintain up-to-date financial records and ensure timely invoicing as per funding agreements. Assess risks and implement risk mitigation strategies.
Key Skills: Proven experience in program management or a related role; Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills; Budget and financial oversight capabilities; Familiarity with grant writing and donor communication; Ability to lead cross-functional teams and work collaboratively with stakeholders
