Stipend Details will be communicated during the selection process

About the Role

We are seeking a Production Technician to support the assembly, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and quality validation of electronic and mechanical systems used in agricultural monitoring, automation, and robotic applications. The technician will work closely with the engineering and production teams to convert prototypes and engineering designs into reliable field-ready products. The role involves hands-on work across wiring, sensors, mechanical components, enclosures, fasteners, mechanisms, and complete system integration.

The position provides practical experience in electronics production, mechanical assembly, embedded system integration, prototype fabrication, hardware testing, troubleshooting, and quality control for real-world agricultural technology products.

Roles & Responsibilities

Mechanical Assembly

● Assemble mechanical components and subassemblies according to engineering drawings and assembly instructions.

● Perform installation of:

○ Enclosures and mounting brackets

○ Shafts, bearings, gears, pulleys, and couplings

○ Motors and actuators

○ Fasteners and structural components

○ Sensors and sensor mounting systems

○ Agricultural machine and robotic assemblies

● Perform basic drilling, cutting, filing, tapping, and other workshop operations when required.

● Support fabrication and assembly of prototypes and production units.

● Perform mechanical fastening, alignment, and adjustment of components.

● Assist with sheet-metal, fabricated, and 3D-printed components.

● Support installation and routing of cables, sensors, and electronic components within mechanical assemblies.

● Identify mechanical assembly issues such as interference, misalignment,

loose components, and improper fitment.

● Assist engineers in modifying and improving mechanical assemblies based on testing and field feedback.

System Integration & Testing

● Integrate mechanical, electrical, and embedded subsystems into complete products.

● Perform functional testing of assembled systems according to defined test procedures.

● Verify sensor operation, motor operation, communication, power supply, and embedded functionality.

● Conduct basic electrical and mechanical inspection before system testing.

● Assist in prototype testing and field validation.

● Troubleshoot issues occurring during system integration and testing.

● Record test results, failures, corrective actions, and observations.

● Support reliability and endurance testing of products.

Production & Quality

● Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), assembly instructions, drawings, and quality-control procedures.

● Maintain production records, inspection reports, test reports, and failure logs.

● Maintain component traceability and assist with BOM verification.

● Identify defective components and assemblies during production.

● Ensure proper workmanship and consistency across assembled units.

● Support prototype-to-production transition and implementation of engineering changes.

● Maintain an organized, safe, and ESD-compliant electronics and mechanical work area.

● Coordinate with engineers and fabrication teams to resolve assembly and production issues.

Required Skills

● Ability to read:

○ Wiring diagrams

○ Mechanical drawings

○ Assembly drawings

● Ability to use basic workshop tools

● Familiarity with basic fabrication tools

● Basic troubleshooting and fault-finding skills

● Valuable attention to detail and quality, and strong hands-on and problem-solving ability
