Role Overview The Product Portfolio Assistant plays a central role supporting Portfolio Managers and cross-functional teams within Higher Education (specifically Humanities and Social Sciences). This role optimizes portfolio management, product development, and strategic marketing by managing internet research competitive data culling, market benchmarking, and strategic documentation tracking. Additionally, the Portfolio Assistant facilitates key operational workflows, author contract processing, sales and marketing priority requests, and customer support issue escalations.
Project Tasks & Responsibilities
Market Research & Portfolio Analytics
● Conduct independent market and internet research on course-relevant topics, emerging industry trends, and curriculum changes; synthesize and present findings to Portfolio Managers.
● Cull and evaluate market data to build and continuously update competitive benchmarks and comparisons.
● Participate in the design, execution, and analysis of market research to identify actionable recommendations and product improvements.
Strategic Documentation & Meeting Logistics
● Prepare, organize, and track strategic documents required for cross-functional meetings, including Strategy Meetings, Production Launches, and Digital Road mapping.
● Support the development of Portfolio Business Plans and product proposals.
● Develop and maintain tracking systems for editorial content, project milestones, and an author talent database.
● Plan and manage logistics for team meetings.
Operations, Author Relations & Financial Support
● Serve as a primary point of contact for Author Relations inquiries and contract processing requests.
● Perform administrative operational tasks including oversight of their viewing process, invoice processing, basic Profit & Loss (P&L;) proposal preparation,
and budget tracking updates.
● Maintain accuracy across internal product, project, and customer databases.
● Propose procedural improvements to enhance workflow clarity and decrease project risk.
Marketing, Sales & Customer Escalations
● Provide accurate and detailed product information via Product Marketing Forms.
● Respond to priority inquiries from sales, marketing, and customer support teams in a timely and accurate manner.
● Act as the dedicated point of contact for customer support issues using the JIRA ESCAL system, partnering with product teams to resolve escalations.

Educational & Skill Requirements
● Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) or equivalent practical experience preferred.
● Experience: 1–3 years of experience in market research, business analysis, portfolio support, or publishing operations.
● Technical Skills: Tech-savvy with strong proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and database management. Experience with JIRA ticketing, CRM systems, Power BI, or applied AI research tools is a plus.
● Core Skills: Exceptional organizational skills, high attention to detail, effective time management, strong written and interpersonal communication, and proven ability to drive autonomous projects to completion.
