Product Engineer, Discovery | Global
Basil Health · CalmSync
Onsite, Bangalore Full-time Immediate Start Global Exposure
Do you dissect every app you use, keep a running list of features you wish existed, and want to be the person who gets them built?
We're looking for a product-obsessed engineer to decide what we build next. You'll research how the best B2B and B2C products work across industries, analyze what we've already built, and work with our developers to ship the improvements. This is a hands-on role at the intersection of neuroscience and AI, working on CalmSync, with direct access to the founders and real influence on the roadmap.
About Us
Join us in building a new generation of wellness technology—where Ancient Wisdom meets AI Neuroscience.
At Basil Health Corporation, we are developing CalmSync™, a one-of-a-kind wellness platform designed to go far beyond simply measuring stress, anxiety, focus, mental fatigue, and other cognitive states. CalmSync seeks to understand the individual, recognize changes in their state of mind, and intelligently guide them toward appropriate interventions that can help restore balance, clarity, resilience, and performance.
Our vision is to transform wellness from measurement into meaningful action—and ultimately, meaningful purpose. CalmSync brings together up-to-date neuroscience, artificial intelligence, deep personalization, and the timeless insights of ancient wisdom and cognitive practices to address not only how a person feels, but how they can respond and improve. If you are excited by the opportunity to work at the intersection of AI, neuroscience, ancient wisdom, wellness, and human potential, we invite you to help us build the future of personalized mental wellness.
Backed by validation from the Indian Army, IIT Kanpur, IIT Mandi, the University of Maryland, and Michigan State University, CalmSync is built for individuals and for organizations across corporate wellness, healthcare, coaching, and public health.
About the Role
You'll be the bridge between what the market wants and what we build. Your work has three parts: discover what features we should add, analyze how our current products perform, and execute by working with developers to get improvements shipped. You'll serve two very different audiences: organizations (B2B) and individual end users (B2C). Understanding both is central to the job.
Most of your time goes to research, analysis, and product decisions. You'll also prototype, write SQL, and occasionally ship small changes yourself. Your main job is deciding what we build and why.
What You'll Do
Research and discovery
- Research new features CalmSync should build, drawing on products across healthtech, wellness, meditation, fintech, edtech, enterprise SaaS, and consumer apps
- Study how the same problem is solved for B2B buyers (corporate wellness and HR teams, healthcare providers, performance coaches, wellness retreats, public health agencies) versus B2C users (individuals, patients,
consumers), and where their needs differ
- Track global market trends, emerging technologies, regulations, and geopolitical developments that affect what our customers need
- Benchmark competitors and adjacent players on features, positioning, pricing, and UX, and turn the findings into clear opportunities
Analysis of the current product
- Audit CalmSync end to end, including UI/UX, onboarding, user flows, and reporting
- Analyze feature usage, drop-offs, and feedback to find friction, gaps, and quick wins
- Run user interviews, demos, and feedback sessions with customers and internal teams to understand real pain points
- Maintain a prioritized backlog of feature ideas with a clear rationale, expected impact, and effort estimate
Execution with developers
- Turn research into clear, technical, lightweight PRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria
- Work directly with engineers and designers to scope, build, test, and release features in the live product
- Prototype ideas quickly (wireframes, clickable mockups, small scripts) to validate them before full builds
- Coordinate across product, development, and business teams so what we build matches what the market needs
Measure and iterate
- Define success metrics for every feature and track them after launch
- Run experiments and use the data to decide what to double down on and what to drop
- Report on findings, progress, and priorities to leadership weekly
Who We're Looking For
- What We’re Looking For
- We’re looking for a Product Engineer who thinks beyond the feature request—someone who can spot an opportunity, understand the user and market, work through the technical trade-offs, and help turn an idea into a product people actually want to use.
- B.Tech/B.E. in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication Engineering, or a related technical field from an IIT or equivalent top engineering institute.
- 1 years of post-graduation experience in Product Engineering, Product Development, Software Engineering, Product Analytics, or a closely related product role.
- Real product-building experience: You’ve contributed to products that moved from concept → requirements → development → testing → launch → iteration, and you understand what it takes to ship.
- Technically strong: You’re comfortable with APIs, databases, system architecture, integrations, and technical trade-offs—and can have meaningful conversations with engineers about how something should be built.
- Obsessed with finding what’s next: You enjoy researching new technologies, markets, competitors, user behavior,
and emerging trends to uncover opportunities worth building.
- Strong product judgment: You can separate a genuinely valuable feature from a nice-to-have and turn ambiguous problems into clear product decisions.
- Excellent UX instincts: You notice friction others miss. You can evaluate a user journey, understand why an experience works or doesn’t, and translate that into actionable product improvements.
- Research-driven and analytical: You can go deep into a new industry or problem, connect the dots across multiple sources, and turn complex information into a clear point of view.
- Exceptional communicator: You write product requirements, user stories, workflows, and specifications that make complex ideas easy for engineering and design teams to execute.
- High ownership: You don’t wait for someone to hand you the next task. You find problems, ask better questions, build alignment, and drive ideas forward.
- Strong cross-functional collaborator: You’ll work closely with engineering, design, leadership, and business teams to take ideas from an early concept to something real.
- Curious about the frontier: Interest in AI, neurotechnology, healthtech, wellness, mental wellbeing, or human performance is a strong plus.
- Global mindset: Experience building products for international users or collaborating with global teams is a plus.
Bonus Points
- Exposure to both B2B and B2C products, or to SaaS and consumer apps
- Experience with user research, usability testing, or A/B experiments
- Familiarity with Figma, Linear/Jira, and analytics tools (SQL, Amplitude, Mixpanel)
- A public product teardown, portfolio, or write-up that shows how you think
You'll Thrive Here If You
- Can't stop dissecting the apps you use every day
- Have a long list of features you wish existed
- Enjoy comparing how a problem is solved for enterprises versus consumers
- Would rather ship a good idea this week than perfect it for months
- Want real ownership and are comfortable with startup speed and ambiguity
Why Join Us
- Work on genuinely groundbreaking technology, validated by the Indian Army and leading academic institutions
- Shape a product that serves both organizations and everyday users, in a category still being defined
- Direct exposure to global markets, from India to the US and beyond
- Work closely with founders and senior leadership from day one, with real influence on the roadmap
- Fast career growth in a high-impact, small team of builders
- Competitive salary: [range] [equity/ESOPs, if applicable] flexible work potential international travel
