Sciente is a Singapore-headquartered specialist BFSI technology and AI/data consulting firm, with offices across Singapore, Malaysia, India, and the USA. We help banks, insurers, and financial services firms modernize through AI-driven governance, risk and compliance (GRC), data intelligentisation, and business technology consulting, delivered through strategic partnerships with Dataiku, Denodo, and Neo4j, alongside our technology talent management practice.
Role Summary
Sciente is hiring a mid-level, India-based Pre-sales Techno-functional Consultant (FCC & GRC) who turns BFSI clients' financial crime compliance (FCC) and governance, risk and compliance (GRC) problems into solution concepts, and grows into a senior pre-sales role.
Key Responsibilities
1. Problem discovery. Run discovery sessions with compliance, risk, operations and IT stakeholders at banks, insurers and other financial institutions. Turn vague pain points into structured problem statements with scope, root causes and success measures.
2. Solution conceptualisation. Design solution concepts across FCC (AML, sanctions screening, fraud, KYC/CDD, transaction monitoring) and GRC (regulatory mapping, controls, risk registers, audit readiness).
3. Partner-stack architecture. Map each problem to Sciente's capabilities and partner technologies, for example:
- Neo4j for entity resolution, network analytics and linking regulations to controls and risks
- Denodo for unifying data spread across core banking, case management and GRC systems
- Dataiku for models, analytics and explainable decisioning
1. Proposals and effort estimates. Write solution sections of RFP/RFI responses and proposals, including scope, assumptions, phasing and effort estimates, with delivery leads.
2. Demos and proofs of concept. Build and present demos and small proofs of concept tailored to the client's data and use case.
3. Client presentations.
Present to both business buyers (Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Risk Officer, Head of Financial Crime) and technical buyers (CIO, CDO, enterprise architects), mostly remotely, with occasional travel.
4. Market and regulatory awareness. Track regulatory change and industry practice in the markets Sciente serves, and feed this into reusable solution accelerators.
5. Handover to delivery. Hand over won deals with transparent solution documentation so delivery starts without rework.
Requirements
Candidates need depth in either GRC or FCC domain and working knowledge of the other; no one is expected to be expert in both at entry.
Must have
- Roughly 6 to 10 years in BFSI, including hands-on work in FCC or GRC
- Deep expertise in at least one of:
- FCC: AML transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, fraud detection, KYC/CDD or case management
- GRC: regulatory compliance mapping, risk and control frameworks, operational risk, internal audit or policy management
- Working knowledge of the other domain, enough to frame its problems credibly
- Hands-on experience with at least one FCC or GRC platform, as implementer, consultant or user
- Solid data literacy: data models, data quality, integration patterns, and how analytics and models drive alerts or risk scores
- Familiarity with regulatory expectations beyond one country, such as FATF standards and at least one of MAS, BNM, US BSA/FinCEN
- Strong written and spoken English; able to whiteboard a solution live with senior client stakeholders
- Willingness to take calls across APAC and US time zones, and to travel occasionally
