About the Role

Ensure the right people do the right work at the right time, so the plant meets its daily production, quality, safety, and cost targets. Be active and take responsibility for all the activities of the plant as showcased below. The role also requires one to be a great problem solver and good at communications.

Key Responsibilities

· Production: Allocate manpower daily, run operations to target, and solve problems on the spot.

· Processing: Segregate incoming refractories by type and chemistry, remove contaminants, and control crushing, screening, and magnetic separation to customer specs.

· Quality: Ensure every lot is sampled and tested before dispatch; hold off-spec material.

· Machines: Plan preventive maintenance and minimise breakdowns.

· Materials: Control raw material, finished stock, wastage, and lot traceability.

· Safety and compliance: Enforce PPE, dust control, and housekeeping; comply with the Factories Act, pollution control, and contract labour rules.

· Cost: Control power,



diesel, spares, and labour cost per MT.

· Dispatch: Load the correct material, quantity, and documents on schedule.

· Reporting: Send a daily report to management and escalate major issues.

· Inventory: Maintain daily stock records of raw material, work-in-progress, finished goods, spares, and consumables; run monthly physical stock checks, reconcile with books, and flag slow-moving or excess stock.

Authority

· Assign workers for different shifts.

· Engage or release contract labour, with HR.

· Stop unsafe work and hold off-spec dispatches.

· Daily Routine

· Morning: Check attendance, targets, machines, and stock; hold a 10-minute team and safety meeting.

· During shift: Walk the plant; monitor output, quality, safety, and housekeeping.

· End of day: Review output, rejection, downtime, and pending work; send the daily report.

KPIs

· Measured against targets set by management:

· Production (MT/day) and recovery/yield (%)

· Processing cost per MT

· Machine downtime and rejection (%)

· On-time dispatch (%)

· Zero lost-time accidents and full statutory compliance

· Attendance, discipline, and housekeeping

Candidate Requirements

· B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical, Metallurgy, Mining, or Ceramic Engineering (Flexible)

· 8–12 years in plant operations, with 3+ years running a crushing, minerals, refractory, or steel plant.

· Robust labour management; working knowledge of crushers, screens, and separators.

· Problem Solver – you need to be confident at identifying problems, analyzing them and enacting solutions along with factoring in aspects like finance, team management, quality assurance etc.

· Hindi and Bengali; working English and Excel.
