Planning & Logistic Manager in an Axle manufacturing company is responsible for creating and executing production schedules to meet demand, overseeing resource allocation, and coordinating with various departments to ensure efficient operations. Key duties include analyzing production data to identify and resolve bottlenecks, managing inventory levels, and working to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
KRA Planning (Key Responsibilities Areas)
1. Develop and implement detailed production plans that align with demand forecasts and inventory levels, guaranteeing utilization of resources ensuring alignment with sales forecasts and customer demand.
2. Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement maintain production schedules, capacity, and resource allocation to optimize manufacturing workflows and minimize downtime.
3. Cross-functional collaboration with engineering, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and sales teams to ensure smooth operations and on-time delivery. Continuous coordination with manufacturing team on production progress and adjust schedules as needed to meet targets.
4. Prepare and manage production schedules, ensuring adherence to deadlines while accommodating changes in demand. Analyze production data to identify and resolve bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
5. Utilize advanced planning tools and methodologies, including MRP and ERP systems, to enhance planning accuracy and efficiency. Prepare and present production reports to senior management
6. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, implementing lean manufacturing principles to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
KRA Logistic (Key Responsibilities Areas)
1.
Supply Chain Planning & Management: Strategically plan and manage logistics, warehousing, transportation, and customer services to optimize the entire order cycle.
2. Inventory Control: Monitor and control inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished products to align with production planning and customer demand, ensuring accuracy through regular audits and cycle counts.
3. Transportation Management: Select carriers, provide support to purchase team to negotiate contracts and rates for inbound and outbound shipments, and plan optimal routes to balance speed, cost, and efficiency.
4. Warehouse Operations: Oversee all warehouse activities, including receiving, storage, material handling, picking, packing, and dispatch of goods.
5. Vendor and Supplier Management: Liaise and negotiate with suppliers, manufacturers, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Manufacturing/Production, Procurement, Sales, and Quality departments to integrate logistics activities with overall company operations and procedures.
Additional notes a) Optimize resource allocation, including workforce planning and material management. Manage and mentor a team of planning professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional growth. b) Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Enhance and implement best practices in inventory management and production scheduling to minimize waste and improve service levels. Manage inventory levels for raw materials and finished goods to prevent overstocking or shortages.
d) Compliance and Safety: Ensure all logistics and warehouse operations adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) and ISO standards.
e) Team Leadership: Supervise, coach, and train warehouse and logistics staff, setting clear targets and fostering a safe and productive work environment.
f) Problem Resolution: Address and resolve any issues or complaints regarding shipments, inventory discrepancies, or delivery delays promptly and effectively.
g) Performance Analysis: Maintain metrics, analyse data (e.g., transport costs, delivery times, stock levels), and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
h) Proficiency in utilizing MRP/ERP systems, along with advanced Excel skills for data analysis.
i) Excellent analytical skills with a proven ability to interpret complex data sets and make data-driven decisions j) Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment in automotive industries.
k) Familiarity with lean manufacturing methodologies and continuous improvement practices.
l) Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail m) Proficient in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau) to generate actionable insights n) Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments o) Robust problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues p) Ability to work in a high-pressure environment while maintaining a positive attitude
