Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Pharmacist role located at MIOT HOSPITALS LIMITED in Chennai. The Pharmacist will be responsible for dispensing medications accurately based on prescriptions, ensuring proper dosage, and providing clear instructions to patients and clinical staff.
Daily tasks include verifying prescriptions for drug interactions and contraindications, maintaining inventory and storage conditions, and adhering to hospital, state, and national regulations. The role involves collaborating with physicians and nurses on medication therapy, participating in medication reconciliation, and supporting clinical protocols and patient safety initiatives. The Pharmacist will also document all activities in the hospital information system, contribute to quality assurance processes,
and assist in educating patients about safe and effective medication use.
Qualifications
- Relevant educational background such as a Bachelor’s or Doctor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm / Pharm.D) from an accredited institution.
- Valid pharmacist registration/licensure as required by regulatory authorities in India and eligibility to practice in Tamil Nadu.
- Solid knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, dosage calculations, and therapeutic guidelines for inpatient and outpatient care.
- Experience with hospital pharmacy operations, including dispensing, inventory management, and adherence to safety and storage standards.
- Proficiency in using pharmacy or hospital information systems, electronic medical records, and standard office applications.
- Attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to follow clinical protocols and regulatory requirements consistently.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and educate patients and caregivers.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment, prioritize tasks, and maintain professionalism during high-volume periods.
- Commitment to ethical practice, patient confidentiality, and continuous professional development through ongoing training.
- Prior experience in a hospital or clinical pharmacy setting is preferred but not mandatory for otherwise well-qualified candidates.
