About the Role
We are looking for a senior Procurement / P2P Transformation Consultant to support a large-scale Procure-to-Pay transformation and standardisation programme for a global organisation.
The client has selected an AI-first procurement platform, ProCall, as the target technology, with PwC supporting the implementation and go-live planned for June 2027.
The consultant will act as an independent business and process transformation advisor, representing the client's business interests throughout the transformation journey.
The role is not intended to replace the technology implementation partner. Instead, the consultant will work alongside the client and implementation team to ensure that the transformation is business-led, process-led and outcome-focused, rather than becoming solely a technology implementation exercise.
The initial engagement will focus on the India transformation, with significant potential for further involvement as the programme expands globally.
Key Responsibilities
1. P2P Transformation & Standardisation
- Support the client through the six-month P2P transformation journey.
- Assess and validate current-state procurement and P2P processes.
- Support definition and validation of the future-state P2P operating model and processes.
- Identify opportunities for process simplification, standardisation and optimisation.
- Ensure business objectives and procurement best practices are reflected in the transformation.
- Challenge existing processes where appropriate rather than simply replicating them in the new platform.
- Support prioritisation of transformation initiatives and roadmap.
2. Independent Business Advisory Act as the client-side business/process advisor working alongside PwC and the ProCall technology team.
Responsibilities will include
- Review and challenge recommendations from the implementation team.
- Validate proposed process designs against business requirements.
- Identify gaps between business needs and technology capabilities.
- Ensure that technology decisions are supported by sound process and operating-model thinking.
- Bring external procurement transformation experience and leading practices.
- Act as a bridge between procurement/business stakeholders and technology teams.
- Provide senior-level advice and escalation support throughout the programme.
3. Procurement & Source-to-Pay Expertise The consultant should have strong knowledge across the broader procurement lifecycle, including:
- Strategic sourcing
- Category management
- Supplier/vendor management
- Procurement operations
- Purchase requisitions
- Purchase orders
- Approvals and controls
- Contract/procurement compliance
- Negotiation processes
- Goods/service receipt
- Invoice processing
- Exception management
- P2P controls and governance
Experience beyond transactional AP is particularly important, as the transformation covers upstream procurement as well as downstream P2P activities. 4. AI & Automation The target platform is AI-first, with capabilities including agentic workflows, automated processing and vendor interaction.
The consultant will therefore help the client identify and validate opportunities for:
- AI-enabled procurement
- Agentic procurement workflows
- Automated supplier/vendor interactions
- Intelligent approvals and routing
- Procurement copilots/assistants
- Automated exception management
- AI-driven sourcing and procurement activities
- Conversational procurement
- Workflow orchestration
- Process automation
- Data-driven procurement decision support
The consultant should be able to distinguish between genuine business value opportunities and technology-led automation for its own sake. Deep AI development or coding experience is not required; practical understanding of enterprise AI and automation is essential.
5. Business Requirements & Process Design
- Facilitate workshops with procurement and business stakeholders.
- Capture and validate business requirements.
- Develop current-state and future-state process maps.
- Define business/process requirements for the new platform.
- Support functional prioritisation and transformation backlog development.
- Validate solution designs and workflows.
- Support UAT, process validation and business readiness activities.
- Ensure appropriate documentation of key process decisions and requirements.
6. Transformation Governance
- Support programme governance across business, technology and implementation teams.
- Track key risks, issues, dependencies and decisions.
- Prepare updates for senior stakeholders and steering committees.
- Facilitate resolution of business/process issues.
- Ensure transformation milestones remain aligned with business outcomes.
- Provide independent oversight of the transformation journey through go-live.
Required Experience
Essential
- 10–15+ years of experience in procurement, Source-to-Pay, P2P or business transformation.
- Significant experience delivering P2P / S2P transformation programmes.
- Strong understanding of upstream procurement and sourcing processes.

- Experience working with large/global organisations.
- Proven ability to work with and challenge technology implementation partners / SIs.
- Strong business-process analysis and future-state design capabilities.
- Experience facilitating senior stakeholder workshops.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to operate independently and represent the client/business perspective.
- Experience working across business, process and technology teams.
AI & Automation Experience
- Practical understanding of AI, GenAI, intelligent automation and agentic AI.
- Experience identifying and evaluating AI/automation opportunities within procurement or finance.
- Understanding of how AI can be embedded into enterprise workflows.
- Ability to assess AI opportunities from a business value, process and operating-model perspective.
Preferred Experience
Experience with one or more of the following would be advantageous:
- SAP Ariba
- Coupa
- Ivalua
- Jaggaer
- Oracle Procurement
- Microsoft Dynamics
- Other enterprise P2P / S2P platforms
- Procurement transformation / shared services transformation
- Global Business Services (GBS)
- Finance transformation
- Intelligent automation / RPA
- GenAI / Agentic AI
- AI-enabled procurement platforms
Experience working on large-scale platform-led procurement transformation programmes would be particularly valuable. Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate is a senior procurement transformation practitioner, rather than a pure functional consultant or technology specialist.
They should be comfortable sitting between the client business, procurement leadership, PwC and the ProCall technology team, asking the right questions and ensuring the transformation remains focused on business outcomes.
The candidate should be able to:
Understand the Business → Challenge the Current State → Design the Future State → Identify AI/Automation Opportunities → Validate Technology → Govern Transformation
They should bring the confidence and experience to challenge recommendations constructively and say:
"Before we configure the technology, let's make sure this is the right process and operating model for the business."
