Role Summary The Consultant Nephrologist will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients with kidney and related disorders, including acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, electrolyte abnormalities, hypertension, glomerular diseases, and patients requiring dialysis or renal replacement therapy. The role includes clinical care, supervision of dialysis services, multidisciplinary coordination, teaching, and quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage patients with acute and chronic kidney diseases.
- Diagnose and treat glomerular, tubular, vascular, and hereditary renal disorders.
- Manage acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, electrolyte and acid-base disorders.
- Provide specialist management of resistant and secondary hypertension.
- Assess and manage patients requiring hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT).
- Supervise and ensure protected functioning of the dialysis unit, including vascular access and dialysis-related complications.
- Evaluate patients for kidney transplantation and coordinate pre- and post-transplant care where applicable.
- Perform or supervise nephrology procedures within the scope of practice, such as temporary dialysis catheter placement and renal biopsy, where appropriately trained and credentialed.
- Provide consultation to ICU, emergency, medicine, surgery, and other inpatient departments.
- Participate in multidisciplinary management of critically ill patients.
- Develop individualized treatment plans and ensure appropriate follow-up.
- Communicate diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, and follow-up plans clearly to patients and families.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in departmental audits,
morbidity and mortality meetings, clinical research, and quality-improvement initiatives.
- Supervise and mentor residents, fellows, and junior medical staff.
- Participate in academic activities, teaching programs, CME activities, and case discussions.
Qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification from a recognized institution.
- MD/DNB in General Medicine followed by DM/DNB in Nephrology, or equivalent recognized qualification, as applicable to local regulations.
- Valid registration with the relevant medical council.
- Appropriate experience in nephrology and dialysis services.
- Current BLS/ACLS certification preferred.

Working Requirements

Pay: ₹332,481.59 - ₹678,056.07 per month
