We are seeking a passionate, creative, and student-focused Music Teacher to join our IB school. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing students’ musical knowledge, skills, creativity, and appreciation of diverse musical traditions through engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences.
The teacher will contribute to the school’s performing arts programme and support students in developing confidence, collaboration, creativity, and independent musical expression in line with the philosophy and learner-centred approach of the International Baccalaureate (IB).
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging music lessons for students across the assigned age groups.
- Develop units of inquiry and learning experiences aligned with relevant IB frameworks and school curriculum requirements.
- Teach music theory, practical skills, composition, performance, listening, and appreciation as appropriate to students’ age and level.
- Provide opportunities for students to explore different musical genres, cultures, traditions, and forms of musical expression.
- Develop students’ vocal and/or instrumental skills through individual, small-group, and ensemble activities.
- Use student-centred, inquiry-based, and experiential teaching strategies.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, abilities, interests, and learning styles.
- Assess and document student learning using appropriate formative and summative assessment strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate learning outcomes to parents and relevant staff.
- Prepare students for school concerts, assemblies, productions,
competitions, and other performing arts events.
- Coordinate and conduct choirs, bands, orchestras, ensembles, or other extracurricular music activities as required.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other specialist teachers to create interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
- Contribute to school events, celebrations, performances, and community initiatives.
- Create a positive, inclusive, safe, and inspiring learning environment.
- Encourage students to demonstrate creativity, collaboration, reflection, communication, and intercultural understanding.
- Participate actively in professional development and contribute to the wider school community.
- Follow school policies, safeguarding procedures, and IB expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music, Music Education, Performing Arts, or a related field.
- Recognised teaching qualification/certification.
- Experience teaching music in a school environment.
- Strong knowledge of music theory and practical music education.
- Proficiency in at least one primary instrument; additional instrumental or vocal skills are desirable.
- Good understanding of child-centred and differentiated teaching approaches.
Preferred IB Experience
- Previous experience teaching in an IB School is preferred.
- Knowledge of PYP music curriculam, depending on the role.
- Experience with inquiry-based learning and concept-driven teaching.
- Familiarity with IB approaches to teaching and learning and assessment practices.
- IB workshop/training experience will be an advantage.

Experience
Preferred: 1–2 years of relevant school teaching experience, preferably in an international or IB school.
Candidates with strong musical qualifications and relevant teaching experience may also be considered.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
