Role: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer | Robotics & Industrial Automation
Location: Bengaluru
Experience: 10 years
Employment: Full-time
About the Role:
We are hiring a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a growing engineering and product organization working on advanced robotic and industrial automation solutions.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role for someone who enjoys taking physical products from concept and engineering design through prototyping, testing, validation, and production.
You will work closely with mechanical, electrical, software, manufacturing, testing, and field teams to build reliable, scalable, and manufacturable products.
What You'll Do
Product Development
- Own the mechanical product development lifecycle from concept, feasibility and prototyping through validation and production release.
- Translate product and user requirements into practical mechanical designs and engineering solutions.
- Drive design iterations based on testing, field feedback, manufacturing requirements, and product performance.
Mechanical Design & Engineering
- Lead mechanical design for complex machines, robotic systems, and industrial equipment.
- Develop detailed 3D models, assemblies, engineering drawings, and design specifications using CAD tools.
- Design for reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, cost, and ease of assembly.
- Conduct feasibility studies, tolerance analysis, design reviews, and engineering risk assessments.
Cross-Functional Engineering
- Work closely with electrical, electronics, firmware, software, manufacturing, and project teams to ensure effective system-level integration.
- Identify and resolve mechanical-electrical-mechanical integration challenges during development.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers to transition designs from prototype to production.
Testing & Validation
- Define and execute design verification, validation, reliability, and performance testing.
- Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for design and field issues.
- Use test results and real-world feedback to continuously improve product performance and reliability.
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to engineers and designers.
- Establish strong engineering and design practices across the team.
- Participate in design reviews and technical decision-making.
- Stay current with developments in robotics, automation, mechanical engineering, materials, manufacturing, and product development.
What We're Looking For
- 10 years of experience in mechanical product development, preferably across robotics, automation, industrial equipment, or complex electromechanical products.
- Solid hands-on experience in mechanical design and product development.
- Experience taking products from concept → prototype → testing → validation → production.
- Strong proficiency in CAD and engineering drawing practices.
- Experience working with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of DFM/DFA, tolerances, materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical reliability.
- Experience with root-cause analysis, design validation, and engineering problem-solving.
- Ability to balance technical depth with practical considerations such as cost, manufacturability, timelines, and field requirements.
- Strong communication and mentoring skills.
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related engineering discipline.
Why This Role?
You'll have the opportunity to work on real-world robotic and automation products, with significant ownership across mechanical engineering, product development, testing, and commercialization.
If you enjoy building physical products, solving complex engineering problems, and seeing your designs move from CAD to the real world, we'd love to hear from you.
