– Legal Associate
Location: Bangalore
Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Legal Associate with 1–2 years of relevant experience to join our Legal team. The ideal candidate will have foundational experience in commercial contracts, litigation, consumer matters, legal notices, and intellectual property, along with strong legal research, drafting, and communication skills. The candidate will be responsible for supporting and progressively handling legal matters with increasing independence, including drafting and reviewing commercial agreements, dealership agreements, vendor and business contracts, legal notices and replies, consumer complaints and responses, litigation matters, and general legal correspondence.
The role requires a proactive legal skilled who can work closely with business and cross-functional teams, identify legal risks, and provide practical and commercially appropriate legal support.
Key Responsibilities
- Legal Drafting and Contract Management
- Draft, review, revise, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including commercial agreements, vendor agreements, service agreements, NDAs, dealership agreements, MoUs, lease agreements, and other business contracts.
- Independently handle and support the drafting, review, execution, and maintenance of dealership and channel partner agreements, including related notices, amendments, termination documents, and correspondence.
- Review agreements from a legal and commercial risk perspective and provide practical recommendations to internal stakeholders.
- Ensure legal documents comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal company policies.
- Assist in standardising and updating legal templates, clauses, and documentation to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Maintain and organise contract repositories and track key contractual obligations, renewals, expiry dates, notices, and other contractual timelines.
- Litigation, Consumer Matters and Legal Notices
- Assist in handling litigation, arbitration, consumer disputes, and other legal proceedings involving the Company.
- Support the Legal team in matters before Consumer Commissions, courts, tribunals, and other relevant authorities.
- Draft and review legal notices, replies to legal notices, demand notices, responses to customer complaints, consumer complaints/replies, pleadings, applications, affidavits, and other legal correspondence, under appropriate supervision.
- Assist in preparing factual briefs, chronologies, case summaries, document bundles, and other materials required for litigation and dispute resolution.
- Coordinate with external advocates and counsel for hearings, filings, documentation, and follow-up on ongoing matters.
- Assist in responding to and managing customer complaints and consumer-related legal escalations, including matters concerning products, warranty, service, dealership conduct, and other customer disputes.
- Maintain records and trackers for ongoing litigation, consumer cases, legal notices, and other disputes.
- Legal Communication and Stakeholder Management
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, external counsel, business partners, customers, regulatory authorities, and other relevant parties.
- Provide clear and concise legal inputs to business and support functions.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to gather relevant facts, documents, and information required for contracts, notices, disputes, and other legal matters.
- Assist in managing routine legal queries and escalations from internal teams.
- Work closely with business teams to understand commercial requirements and provide legally sound and practical solutions.
- Legal Research and Analysis
- Conduct legal research on applicable laws, regulations, rules, notifications, and case laws relevant to the Company & business.
- Research and analyse legal issues relating to commercial contracts, consumer protection, litigation, automotive/EV regulations, intellectual property, employment-related matters, and other business requirements.
- Assist in assessing legal risks and preparing practical recommendations for mitigation.
- Track relevant regulatory and legislative developments and flag potential implications for the business.
- Support In Due Diligence
- Keep an eye on Risk Mitigation: follow on the Condition Precedent (CP), Condition Subsequent (CS), Specific Indemnity, or Disclosure Schedule exception of various lenders.
- Arrange and coordinate with the law firm for the Data Management in the DD server and coordinate with other departments and stakeholders.
- Compliance and Legal Support
- Support compliance initiatives across various departments.
- Assist in preparing compliance checklists, legal advisories, internal guidelines, and process notes for business teams.
- Support implementation and monitoring of internal policies, including contractual compliance and data protection frameworks.
- Assist in identifying potential legal and compliance risks and escalating the same to the Legal team.
Required Qualifications And Skills
- LL.B. degree from a recognised institution is mandatory.
- 1–2 years of relevant post-qualification experience in a law firm, corporate legal department, or similar legal role.
- Prior experience in legal drafting, contract review, litigation support, consumer matters, legal notices, and/or commercial agreements is preferred.
- Experience in drafting and reviewing dealership agreements, vendor agreements, service agreements, NDAs, and other commercial contracts will be an added advantage.
- Practical exposure to drafting and replying to legal notices and handling consumer- related matters is preferred.
- Working knowledge of litigation and arbitration procedures and experience coordinating with external counsel.
- Strong legal drafting, communication, negotiation, research, and analytical skills.
- Working knowledge of applicable commercial, consumer, corporate, contract, and intellectual property laws.
- Ability to understand business requirements and provide practical, commercially appropriate legal inputs.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail, ownership, and ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
- Fluency in English and Kannada is preferred. Knowledge of Tamil will be an added advantage.
- Additional certification/coursework in Intellectual Property Law, Contract Law, or related areas will be an advantage.
- Internship experience with reputed law firms or companies may be considered as an added advantage, particularly where it demonstrates meaningful exposure to legal drafting and litigation.
