Job PurposeYou will run all activities of the KPFBA laboratory, covering pathology, microbiology and nutrition. You will work under the supervision of the Technical Committee Chairman. Your work will give members accurate test results for poultry health and feed quality.

Key ResponsibilitiesYour day-to-day work includes, but is not limited to, the tasks below.

Laboratory upkeep and equipment• Keep the laboratory clean at all times. Work with housekeeping staff to keep it sterile and organised.

- Keep all equipment, instruments, peripheral devices and supplies in good working order. Do routine checks and arrange repairs when needed.
- Prepare reagents, media and other testing materials. Label and store them correctly to keep their quality.

Sample handling and testing• Receive and prepare feed samples for analysis. Follow standard procedures to protect sample integrity.

- Carry out feed analysis to check nutritional content and quality, supporting better poultry health and performance.
- Support pathology and microbiology tests for poultry disease diagnosis.

Records and reporting• Record every test done and every result obtained. Keep records accurate and complete for reference and analysis.

Safety and quality• Follow laboratory safety rules strictly. This includes safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials.

- Seek advice from designated poultry consultants when needed, to meet industry standards and best practices.

Research and learning• Assist in research projects on poultry diseases and feed analysis. Help with data collection and analysis.

- Keep up to date with new methods in disease diagnostics and feed analysis. Bring suitable new methods and technologies into lab practice.





Stakeholder support• Work closely with veterinarians and poultry farmers. Share accurate test results with them on time.

- Do not give treatment or feed recommendations. Refer these to the veterinarian or designated poultry consultant.

Other duties• Support office administration, association events and training programmes.

- Do any other tasks assigned by the Executive Secretary.

Qualifications and Skills• Education: B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences or Food Science; or a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT).

- Experience: 1–3 years in a diagnostic, veterinary, feed or food testing laboratory. Freshers with strong practical training may also apply. Experience with poultry samples or feed analysis is an advantage.
- Skills: Positive knowledge of lab safety, sterile technique and sample handling.
- Basic knowledge of feed analysis (moisture, protein, fat, fibre, ash) and microbiology culture methods.
- Careful record keeping and basic computer skills (MS Excel, Word).
- Good communication in English and Kannada.
- Willing to learn and work as part of a team.

Working Relationships• Internal: Technical Committee Chairman, Executive Secretary, KPFBA office staff and housekeeping staff.

- External: Member poultry farmers, veterinarians, designated poultry consultants and equipment or supply vendors.
