Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Kafka Administrator to manage, maintain, monitor, and optimize Apache Kafka environments. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in Kafka administration, cluster management, troubleshooting, performance tuning, security, and production support.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, administer, and maintain Apache Kafka clusters in production and non-production environments.
- Manage Kafka brokers, topics, partitions, replication, consumer groups, and access controls.
- Monitor Kafka cluster health, performance, capacity, and availability.
- Perform Kafka cluster upgrades, patching, configuration changes, and maintenance activities.
- Troubleshoot issues related to brokers, producers, consumers, replication, lag, throughput, and connectivity.
- Monitor and resolve consumer lag, under-replicated partitions, ISR issues, broker failures, and disk utilization.
- Configure and manage Kafka replication and fault tolerance.
- Perform capacity planning and performance tuning for Kafka clusters.
- Manage Kafka security including SSL/TLS, SASL, authentication, and authorization/ACLs.
- Work with Kafka Connect and manage connectors for data integration.
- Manage and troubleshoot Schema Registry, where applicable.
- Configure monitoring and alerting using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Confluent Control Center, or similar platforms.
- Automate Kafka administration and operational tasks using Shell scripting/Python/Ansible.
- Support disaster recovery, backup, and recovery activities.
- Collaborate with application, DevOps, infrastructure, and database teams to resolve production issues.
- Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Mandatory Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Apache Kafka Administration.
- Good understanding of Kafka architecture and components.
- Experience managing Kafka Brokers, Topics, Partitions, Replication, ISR, and Consumer Groups.
- Experience troubleshooting Consumer Lag and Kafka cluster performance issues.
- Experience with Kafka monitoring and alerting.
- Good knowledge of Linux/Unix administration.
- Experience with Kafka security such as SSL/TLS, SASL, and ACLs.
- Knowledge of Kafka Connect and Schema Registry.
- Experience with production support and incident management.
- Good scripting knowledge using Shell/Python.
Valuable to Have
- Experience with Confluent Kafka / Confluent Platform.
- Experience with ZooKeeper and/or KRaft.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized Kafka deployments.
- Experience with AWS/Azure/GCP cloud environments.
- Knowledge of Prometheus and Grafana.
- Experience with Ansible or other automation tools.
- Understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices.
- Experience with Kafka migration, cluster expansion, or version upgrades.
Pay: ₹300,000.00 - ₹900,000.00 per year
