Role Description The Journalist internship at AGUN is a hybrid role based in North Barrackpore, with a mix of on-site reporting and work-from-home tasks. The intern will assist in researching and developing story ideas, conducting interviews, and gathering information on regional and socio-political issues. Daily responsibilities include news writing, drafting press releases, scripting segments for broadcasting, and collaborating with editors and producers to refine content for digital and video platforms.

The role may also involve field reporting, attending events, and contributing to AGUN’s YouTube and social media presence,



while adhering to ethical journalism standards and editorial guidelines. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in a dynamic newsroom environment and to help emerging journalists build a strong portfolio.

Qualifications

- Strong writing and news writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate, and engaging journalistic content.
- Experience or demonstrated interest in press releases and basic media communication practices.
- Research skills for verifying information, sourcing credible data, and understanding regional and socio-political contexts.
- Interest or basic skills in broadcasting, including scripting for video or audio and on-camera or voice presentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English; proficiency in Bengali.
- Commitment to ethical journalism, fairness, and non-discriminatory reporting.
- Organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, hybrid work setting.
- Relevant academic background or ongoing studies in Journalism, Media Studies, Communications, or a related field preferred.
- Familiarity with digital platforms, social media, and basic video or audio tools is an advantage.
