Job Summary

Neonatal intensive care unit nurses work in a team with NICU doctors and other nurses and are directly responsible for monitoring vitalsadministering medications and nutrientsand providing care and comfort to newborns.

Job Responsibilities

General Responsibility

- Adhere to and comply with organization regulations and administrative policies.
- Adhere to and comply with policies and procedures related to patient careinfection controlpatient safetyand accreditation standards.

Care Delivery

- Demonstrate clinical competence in all aspects of patient care.
- Evaluate the quality and appropriateness of care and assess the impact of nursing intervention as appropriate.
- Assessment and reassessment of pain and management of pain.
- Ensure compliance with all policy and procedure for medication management.
- Explain plan of care to patient and family.
- Document all patient records as per policies and standards.
- Educate patient and family as required.
- Ensure the involvement of the patientfamily and significant others in the patient's care.

Quality Management

- Monitor clinical and other established performance indicators to ensure ongoing quality improvement.
- Follow international patient safety goals.
- Report all near missessentinel eventsand any other incidents.
- Always maintain privacy and confidentiality of patient information and records.
- Comply with all quality standards as decided by organization for patient safety and quality of care.

Training and Development





- Participate in scheduled in-service training programs like ACLSBLSPALSNALS (If applicable)CNEsconferencesetc.

Functional Area Responsibility

- Assess Anthropometrics.
- Demonstrate knowledge about Immunisation schedule.
- Attend to Neonatal Emergencies.
- Management of emergencies like Meconium aspiration syndrome.
- Evaluate Apgar scoring neonatal reflexes.
- Awareness regarding physiological jaundice and pathological hyperbilirubinemia.
- Care for babies under phototherapy and in radiant warmer.
- Perform Blood transfusion and Oxygen therapy for newborn babies.
- Demonstrate knowledge on electrolyte imbalance and nursing management.
- Drug calculations and IV therapy.
- Awareness on Peritoneal Dialysis and care of baby on HFO.
- Perform NALS during emergency situations.

Candidate Requirements

- Education: Diploma / Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Registration: Valid registration in the state Nursing Council from where B. Sc. Nursing / GNM was completed.
- Experience: Freshers / candidates with 1 or 2 years of experience
- Knowledge Skills Required: Knowledge of nursing principles and techniques for the delivery of effective patient care. Valuable communication and interpersonal skills. Be proactivepunctual and empathetic.
